Re: Retirement Projections?

I don't have numbers for the teal team in front of me. They were posted internally a while back and IIRC it was a total of 50 people between 2018 and 2025. That's 50 total, not per year.

Don't all the airbus products have a QWERTY keyboard? Maybe that's your problem - wrong airplane.

unlikely with the current administration. The wall still holding strong.... You never know what the current administration might do from one minute to the next. He self identifies as "pro-business." Maybe all the airline CEO's have to do is pitch it to him as something that they need in order to re...

Re: Researching grandfather's - RAF / RCAF - how/where

This is not a fast process but you can contact the Library and Archives Canada (in Ottawa). You can get access to most military records and medical records (with some caveats) What you will need is 1. Permission from the grandparent if they are still living. 2. Proof of death (either a death certifi...

Re: AC in SFO. Again...

My first question was what time of day did this occur at (body clock time)? Finger trouble can happen at any time of day but it's far more likely at 3:00 am (which I believe was the body clock time of the first SFO incident).

I see APASS just refreshed their ads for the "competitive, industry leading" job posts.

Never give up. Never die.

Re: Summit Air Salary

If you have no time at all it will take a couple of years to get into jazz and you'll stick around long enough to make it worth summit's time. If you already have a couple of years of working in this industry under your belt, an RJ85 type rating probably won't get you much more than you already have...

Re: Summit Air Salary

Pretty sure the bond is larger than your yearly salary... Where the hell are you going to go with an RJ85 type rating and only FO time? Yes, I realize the irony of my other posts looking to go overseas with my vast amount of 737 FO time. I don't think Summit bonds anyone. At least they didn't in th...

Re: Retention bonsuses

Mathematically, a two year retention bonus is little different to a two year bond. What is the goal? Receive money for the corporation or keep people longer? I'd argue right now that the goal has to be keeping people over funding someone's training. A place I used to work paid a salary of $45000 te...

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Whipsawing is the elephant in the room. If it is not addressed right from the beginning, 5-10 years down the road, it will become a much bigger problem than any one particular pay scale. Whipsawing is front and centre. The consequences have clearly been shown through the past three decades. Everyon...

Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists

Email your MP but do it through their website. It's probably automated and it would be hilarious if 3000 pilots all voiced their opinion through their website forcing them to look like they support real change and soon. Be sure to point out that Canada has the second worst duty regulations only lead...

Pretty close. Adjusting for inflation, a $60,000 salary works out to $86,000 today.

Re: Should I stay or should I go?

This came off of another thread For example, second year FOs according are listed at $57 & $61 for Air Canada & WestJet respectively. Compare that to Delta & United at $120 & 125... USD. Also, year 5ish payscales in Canada seem to be about on par with first year FOs at DL or UA. THAT is what I thoug...

In 1995, that would have been the dream working for APASS, being king s*&% on a 777.

Maybe that's why APASS is offering 1995 wages?!

Edit: I stand corrected. It's $78,000 USD.

I believe the one ad was suggesting $82k USD was a competitive salary. It is competitive if you only work 4-8 days a month. It might also be competitive if yo...

Since a lot of the discussion here revolved around tax code, I thought I'd post this article. Below are a few excerpts from it: http://www.torontosun.com/2017/08/26/its-time-for-a-tax-revolt-in-canada According to Fraser, the 42.5% we surrender [in taxes] to federal, provincial and municipal governm...

Re: Should I stay or should I go?

CRA is now taxing employee discounts. Chances are since WS at least charges $2.50/flight that we'll have a new tax to pay. Commuters will love this I'm sure. I've been to all of those places and I agree. The only thing I'd change is maybe Ecuador over Panama but that depends on what part of each cou...
