Re: 14 Day quarantine to be removed?
The quarantine will not be removed, it will be shortened with the 2 negative test results I believe the 2nd test will be at the 6-7 period of quarantine upon re-entry. Hopefully a step in the right direction.

Re: Westjet slashes Service to Maritimes
You should know 99% of the East Coaster’s I’ve talked to on layovers during this whole pandemic desperately want to keep their bubble. Other than the obvious aviation professionals out there, the rest of the population couldn’t care less WJ is pulling out. Westjet has unfortunately always been a la...

Re: Westjet slashes Service to Maritimes
WJ and AC should cut all their flights to the maritimes. If they want their “bubble” let them enjoy their bubble. They can drive or take a boat..... Re: Encore Recalls
Its quite clear in the PTA about bump rights. Jet driver is correct and you are not. Section 8.01 is pretty clear and its under "WestJet or Swoop layoff and recall" I understand Encore pilots are looking out for their own team, but if we keep allowing the company to do whatever it wants with these ...

Re: Encore Recalls
Let me boil down my point because I don’t think that I conveyed it clearly last time. In the PTA, it is explicitly stated that “in the event of a recall at WestJet or Swoop”, the WestJet/Swoop collective agreement will apply. It says a very similar thing regarding Encore. When a pilot is laid off f...

Re: Encore Recalls
I’m not sure why the mainline guys feel screwed. The agreement is quite simple. There is a pilot transfer agreement that states that an Encore pilot can move up into mainline and that a mainline pilot can bump down into Encore if they are laid off at mainline. At this point, we’re not being governe...

Re: Encore Recalls
Rumour has it a grievance was filed by the mainline union today. I haven’t seen it personally but have heard the point of it was recalls being made to encore from furloughed encore pilots only, which violates bumping rights of a combined seniority list. Guess your prediction was wrong. Whoa. Rumour...

Re: Encore Recalls
Who said it was a true one list? Nevertheless you made my point. If they couldn’t hold any position whatsoever at Encore in May (bizarre) then the point of bumping into Encore via the PTA is moot. It’s that simple. People talk as if the entire list is open to everyone at all times. It is not. The l...

Re: Encore Recalls
So everyone could potentially bid all positions? Seems lot of people would choose mainline rather that Encore, meaning all 737 OTS that got in since 2018-ish would now be at Encore ? I am not a Westjet pilot, but I have 2 very close friends who are (one Encore on WJML) and have had many beers with ...

Re: Qantas Flight to No Where Sells Out in 10 Minutes
There’s better ways to take a trip without leaving the farm.
But in all honesty I think I’d rather go to the dentist than spend 7 hours stuck on an airliner going nowhere.

Re: Encore Recalls
I understand that but it just doesn’t work that way. There was one opportunity to seek employment at Encore using the PTA and that was upon lay-off. It’s not in perpetuity like we wish it was. If you bid to go to Encore ONLY as a captain and couldn’t hold it then you basically turned down employmen...

Re: New Facebook Group for laid off Canadian Aviation workers
How about an ex Georgian laid off pre Covid cannot possibly find any work because of massive COVID layoffs ? Does that qualify him ? We have a laid off Tim Hortons employee in YUL on the Group. Many other recognized him and greeted him. That’s great the ex tim hortons employee was welcomed openly, ...

Re: New Facebook Group for laid off Canadian Aviation workers
I’ve seen sneak peaks of this group, the only thing I am confused about is the main reason for the groups being is to bring support and awareness to aviation professionals made redundant due to covid-19. I have noticed the odd person who states themselves as a former Georgian employee, whose layoff ...

Re: Transat revenues drop by 99%, with 2,000 layoffs expected
If someone ordered the airlines to refund all tickets right now? Transat would have to file for CCAA. AC would not..............yet. It would however reduce AC’s ability to weather this by about 5-6 months. It is the reason no one has forced the refunds. Sunwing and Westjet are not publicly traded ...

Yup... and we left to own the flying. So you can't blame us to try and enforce that You don’t own anything, you’re a VERY small piece of the puzzle for Air Canada. You’re an employee, nothing more, maybe a share holder but anyone in the World is capable of also becoming one. Maybe that’s the whole ...

Re: Does partial passing in CPAER affect one’s career in any way..?
If you consider AC the pinnacle of aviation in Canada(debating aside, they at least have the most stringent hiring practices). I know several pilots who work there have personally told me they have several failed written exams and flight tests throughout their training. They make ask you, but being ...

Re: Jazz Recalls?
Just read on a CBC(I know I know) article 2 days ago they let 100 maintenance staff go in an effort to cut 65% of their staff. Conflicting information.
