Re: CYTZ to CNC3 route?
It has been a few years since I've done it, but ATC used to send us out along the shorline to Trafalgar Rd, then north on Trafalgar until about Gerogetown. I have also done the trip to the north, keeping clear of the TCA by passing overhead YZD, then over 400/7. From there pick up Rutherford Rd (sou...

Re: How to go about getting the name changed on my ROC-A
My name has been misspelled on my radio license for the last 20 years... While getting it fixed would be nice, I wouldn't be too concerned if it is not fixed in time for your new job... Nobody other than myself has noticed!

Check the expiry date. They are now issuing 10 year ADBs. Perhaps they are replacing existing ones now.

(a) If you have traffic on your radar at 20 miles and a controller tells you that you have traffic at two miles, believe them. Why would you become confused? ATC is not going to give you 20 mile traffic in this situation. Because on the radio, sometimes, "TWO" and "TWO-ZERO" can sound very similar,...

Re: 1900D not 2-crew?
Just heard that TC is not calling the 1900D a 2-crew machine anymore. When did this change?? So no need for an IATRA? This page lists an effective date of 2015/01/01, I am not sure if the actual change was before that. You are correct; no IATRA, no need for ATPL to be captain, just as a high perfor...

Re: So I walked into a flight school and asked how much flight training was these days...
If you're paying $1,000 for a first headset, and buying "ground school kits", paying nearly $400 for a trainer twin, you're living a very rich life. If you're making a career out of aviation, why not invest in good hearing protection from the start, rather than buying a cheap headset, and then a fe...

Re: So I walked into a flight school and asked how much flight training was these days...
I did some quick math, and a CPL/Multi/IFR with the minimum time is going to run about $50k before taxes. That number goes up if you fly a more expensive airplane (I figured on $150/hr for a single, which is probably a reasonable rate for a C150, but a C172 will likely cost more). I allowed 150 hour...

Re: Piaggio Vs. King Air 350 Pros/Cons
The King Air cabin is longer, but narrower and has less headroom. The Piaggio will cruise about 75 kts faster, which will be noticeable on a 1000+ mile trip. The King Air has a much larger useful load, giving you flexibility if that 4-6 pax suddenly becomes 8. The Piaggio likely can't carry more tha...

My thought is to stay put until after the anticipated AC interview. If you get the job, great, if not, head to an express carrier for another chance to interview at AC via the PML. I'm in the same boat. No! I want as little competition as possible for the OTS positions! On that note, has anyone who...

They are probably talking about Sky Regional, who have recently hired DECs, and who fly ERJs with Air Canada (Express) written on the side.

I'm not familiar with the CRJ - perhaps someone who is can add more details. The Bombardier CRJ100 and CRJ200 are a family of regional airliners manufactured by Bombardier, and based on the Canadair Challenger business jet. The aircraft was based on the Canadair Challenger design, which was purchas...

I'd just like to see an end to the 8 hours uninterrupted happens in camp or at a hotel, and your official duty is when you are home with your spouse for 7 hours bullshit that rules the 703 world. It should read 8 hours uninterrupted rest at your own home plus time to get there and back. I knew so m...
