If by "us" you mean Canada, then yes. I have renouced my citizenship. I have the certificate framed. Were you required to give up your Canadian citizenship for some reason Nark? I only ask because citizenship in almost any country, but especially Canada, is a very valuable thing. If I were fortunat...

I see two points here and they seem confusing. To my understanding: Military aircraft are NOT governed by CARs. If an F-18 lands anywhere (be CYTR or CYYZ) with an RVR of 600, it did not break the TC rules and regs. Civilian aircraft (even if landing at a military base) DO abide and must comply wit...

I have filed an AOR on an aircraft contracted by the CF and had the outcome be that they were opertaing under the authority of the CF and therefore not subject to CARs, no further action. Excuse my ignorance lilfssister, but what's an AOR? I don't know the circumstances behind what you are mentioni...

The only time I have heard of this previously was in the user manual for the Universal 1F FMS. Said it was capable of doing such an approach. The Universal line of FMSs completed WAAS cerification in March. I don't think they have any LAAS certs in place yet which you need for SCAT approaches. The ...

"Correct: military aircraft are not governed by CARs." Wrong! Miltary aircraft and pilots, when in civil airspace and/or at civil airports are expected to follow all civil rules - with some exceptions for some very unique circumstances. They cannot do as they please - for the most part. Those who n...

... ...it's hard to see how anything but brute force is going to keep Afghanistan from reverting back to what it was. ...... Even the NATO commanders themselves have said that you are not going to "win" in Afghanistan militarily. You cannot destroy an ideology with a gun. ( Didn't somebody try some...

The air goes out the outflow valve anyway pressurized or non-pressurized. Depressurizing and opening the ram air valve results in a faster turnover rate of air in the cabin for smoke removal or there would be no benefit to doing it. If necessary the checklists also call for opening the flight deck w...

Ever wonder why we pressurize airplanes Sasktel? Sasktel is right. I think some of you need to go back to groundschool. The percentage of oxygen is constant throughout the atmosphere. The reason why we pressurize is because there is less pressure at higher altitudes. This pressure is needed to "pus...

I think people are forgetting why the Taliban was forcibly removed in the first place. They had turned Afghanistan into the world's largest, nationally funded terrorist training camp. President Clinton threw some missiles at them years ago to try and intimidate them into stopping but we all know how...

Does the approach ban affect military airports? No. Yes...if you are a civilian landing at a military airfield. I diverted to Trenton once and I can assure you I was still expected to abide by the CAR's and not military regulations. If you are civilian registered and licenced it doesn't matter wher...

The sky? I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic, but in case you aren't, if you're at 10,000ft+ there isn't much oxygen to begin with. If I'm not mistaken, in case of an electrical fire with smoke in the cockpit, (in a pressurized aircraft), one of the first courses of action after trying to determ...

Does the approach ban affect military airports? Since it was a foreign registered civilian aircraft I would think they must comply with the CAR's no matter where they operated within Canada since they come under TC's jurisdiction. The military is not regulated by CAR's and they have their own rules...

I don't disagree with you at all about the levels of responsibility between Capt's, FO's and RP's. It is a discussion that need not occur because it is obvious. What is counter-productive is a pilot saying RP's are paid to sit in J and watch movies when you should know better. What is counter-produc...

This whole thing is in my opinion disgusting, shameful and criminal. The incompetence and negligence on the part of the RCMP, CSIS and the government of the day is what allowed this atrocity to happen in the first place. The ensuing coverup is just as bad and is what allowed those directly responsib...

Notwithstanding the other flaws of pay group, I find it a little ridiculous that any RP gets paid anywhere near or even over $100K. 777RP at $120K!? To sit in J, watch movies and sleep? That job is worth $80K max max max and whoever is doing that job for that money is effectively stealing from othe...
