So, what is your dream flying job?
Me, I'd love to be based in Southern Calif (pasadena), flying famous and important people around in a G-V or similar a/c. Mostly domestic and transborder flying, with the odd int'l flight to Europe.
Chris.

If it saves lives, then I say it should be produced, no matter how ugly the plane is! It would be very difficult though to build a plane like that which could fit in existing airport gates. I think you would need to completely redesign major airports around the world to support such a massive plane....

Thanks for the responses. Goldenhawk, note that it states: "the RVR is reported to be fluctuating above and below minimum RVR, and the ground visibility is reported to be at least 1/4 mile." It says that the RVR must be fluctuating above AND below, and the viz must be 1/4sm. If the RVR is simply rep...

Approach Ban
Hey guys, After speaking with several pilots, I have received different perspectives on the approach ban. Here are some scenarios: 1. RVR is 1000, viz is reported as 1/4 sm. 2. RVR is 1200, viz is below 1/4sm. In the above scenarios, I would argue that you cannot shoot the approach in 1, as the RVR ...

bosshawg, That's correct how I do not use a camera mount. I just use a special camera, have the window open, and shoot. It took time for me to get comfortable with this as well. Our company had hired one pilot, who quit after only 1 flight because he did not like it. I felt very frustrated after my ...

currentoptions, I recommend you check out the forums on http://www.pprune.org. They have all sorts of international forums. Try applying to Cathay- you may be competitive enough with your times already (although they do want some turbine experience). If you do not hold an EU passport or have JAA lic...

boss, I'm a low-time pilot working for an aerial photo company. I have been doing this for 3 months now. I take pictures of houses, farms, business, land, etc. If a customer requests a picture of their house, I go up and take it according to how they want it done. Most of my time is spent shooting f...

Equation for radius of turn: R= Velocity squared/ 11.26 tan(bank angle). No, weight does not enter the equation, so if the Velocity is the same (in TAS) and both planes apply the same bank angle, the radius of turn will be the exact same. Equation for rate of turn: ROT= 1091 tan(bank angle)/ Veloci...

underpar, There is money to be had in aviation, but it just takes a while before you start to see it. I am making under $800/month, still living in student housing, and I just ate a can of tuna for my dinner. That's the reality of it for me right now. I have been working this job for only 2 months, ...

Management Positions?
Hey guys, Just wondering how much work would be involved in taking on the responsibilities as a PRM (formerly known as maintenance manager) for a 702 company? Would you still be able to fly full-time/part-time as a pilot with the company, or is the work of a PRM a full-time office job? Also, how do ...

I'm a newbie myself (400 hour pilot, working as an aerial photographer). I'm in a pretty fortunate position because I do not get pressured into flying when the weather is bad (if it's bad, the pictures turn out poorly, and then I get in trouble for having gone up). There have been some situations ho...

Paul, This may seem a little nit-picky, but I will post it anyway. To elaborate on your scenario... Imagine that the person who "accidentally" set-fire to the building had purchased some sort of electrical device. He decides to use it, but neglects to read the manual on how to properly use the speci...

T01, You're missing the point. The fact that is being pointed out now is that the pilots created a possible emergency situation. Sure they glided the plane down and did a great job at that, but that situation could have been prevented, had proper procedures been followed. I'm not saying these guys s...
