Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

MCAS is not even programmed in the 737 Max sim, the closest thing it can replicate is a stabilizer trim run-away. Well it is just a software issue and can be fixed! Oh wait Boeing said that but I guess that can be applied to a sim too. You know what... I hope TC sticks to its guns and demands sim t...

Canada transport minister wants simulator training for 737 MAX fix ReutersApril 17, 2019 By Allison Lampert MONTREAL (Reuters) - Canada called on Wednesday for pilots to receive training on simulators for new Boeing 737 MAX software, rather than computer courses, going a step beyond proposals by U.S...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I can’t believe the amount of pilots that are defending Boeing and the 737 MAX. It’s obvious its MCAS system is poorly designed and can lead to crashes. Now even the CEO of Boeing is admitting to this... check out the video. Boeing is in deep poo poo and now they are trying to save their name, their...

Re: Hilton Honors Points Missing

Sometimes when walking to my car in the crew lot in -40 weather I think back to days filled with sits in Scottsdale, Vegas, Mexico, etc. and think wtf am I doing? Reading this forum has reminded me why I left corporate and why I’ll never go back. I have friends who love it and to each their own. I’...

Re: Halifax crash report coming Thursday

Wait!

You are saying the VOR freq was tuned on NAV 1 during the approach?

Was the DME on NAV 2 on hold or they basically never used NAV 2 for reference/guidance for the approach?

I thought they were doing a LOC approach?

The same article mentions the single point failure for the AOA - MCAS system ...black box data retrieved after the Lion Air crash indicates that a single faulty sensor — a vane on the outside of the fuselage that measures the plane’s “angle of attack,” the angle between the airflow and the wing — t...

I don't know how accurate this is but I just found this article dated March 17th (today) from the Seattle Times, very interesting read... https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/failed-certification-faa-missed-safety-issues-in-the-737-max-system-implicated-in-the-lion-air-crash/ Some ...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I was surprised to see that the latest versions of the 737 are still equipped with dual everything as opposed to triple redundancy on just about every other aircraft. Boeing has no redundancy on some parts. MCAS for example, works with ONLY the left side AOA probe. No comparison, so agreement requi...

Re: Bombardier rips into the Globe and Mail

Yeah the same way we the people financed a poorly runned national airline for more than 50 years. Besides although both levels of government may have loaned money for the C Series, which I assume is already paid back or will be in the futur, I don’t recall the government gave away money for free to ...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Found this on another forum and I don’t know how accurate the info is... You do realize the MAX8 was to be given a different type rating but MCAS was the solution to allow Boeing and the carriers to get around that so no new type rating was required for their pilots. Only a couple hours training on ...

Why did they perform a CAT II approach in CAT I weather?

Aren't CAT II approaches limited to a maximum crosswind component of 15kts?

here we go again...   Bombardier bashing. Nothing more. Nothing less. Bingo! I can't understand why, we Canadians are always ready to shoot down one of ours instead of praising it when they do come up with a fantastic product. 200 hour copilot... guess that’s normal in other countries. Very sad. They have those in Asia, in Europe and many other parts of the world unfortunately. And they are coming to Canada soon if not already here in some low cost charter operators through internal training programs... And just think of...

On another forum, some say that Ethiopian is probably the best airline in Africa others not so sure.

Hopefully both black boxes will be able to give us a clue into what happened.

Too funny!

I'm sure there some pilots out there in the corporate world that act like this guy but in general most of the guys I meet are real cool and courteous to the FBOs and their personnel.

Re: Bombardier rips into the Globe and Mail

Sorry, I like precision. I know it annoys some people, but it can and does make a difference at times. Anyone claiming they have the biggest, smallest, or best of anything should ensure that their claims are accurate and narrow enough in scope to be accurate. See Gulfstream, for example, referencin...

Re: Bombardier rips into the Globe and Mail

Our new aircraft has the longest range, the largest cabin and smoothest ride of any business jet ever made. This statement annoys me. Is the Global 7500 really a larger cabin than the ACJ380 (or any of the wide-body Airbus Corporate Jets or Boeing Business Jets?). Boeing and Airbus models both have...

My understanding is the first production aircraft (the one that broke the record) was delivered internally to the flight demo department at Bombardier. It is not an experimental aircraft. If you want to get to the real nitty gritty, it was actually delivered to a leasing company and bombardier leas...

Well for a long time, I have been getting the "official" annual cost of living index as per our government +1% pay raise every year... Does that help?
