Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing
Pie, don't know why you feel the need to stir it up. Descending is simply going down. You can descend the stairs, or fall down them. End result is a descent. My beer glass descended from the table to the floor. Anyway. Get back to us in three years when the official findings state the airplane desce...

Well Shimmy, if they hadn't descended below a published altitude, they wouldn't have hit the ground. What is your point?shimmydampner wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 4:47 pmAre you willing to stake your "reputation" on that.Illya Kuryakin wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 10:30 pm The “cause” is simple. Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing
I always set field elevation as well. The problem is, it isn’t really on profile with a normal decent, they crashed outside of the 25 mile safe, and visibility was a mile and ceiling was 1600 feet. They were right on approach ban—not exactly the conditions any informed crew goes looking to find an ...

Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing
Something like this can be easily caused by an erroneous altimeter setting. A 310 hit the ground near Cat Lake several years ago for just this reason. Every morning after I spark up the beast, I set set field elevation before I even "check in" for the numbers with FSS. Sounds pretty basic, but pilot...

Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing
Co-Joe: but realistically the 100 nm safe is higher because of the 11 800 AMA for rocks 180 nm west of there, That's why I will wait for the trained people with the actual information to give me the cause...maybe a review of a CAP GEN is in order. The “cause” is simple. Descended below a published ...

I've always found this to be kind of strange. Used to rent airplanes all the time years before HERTZ would give me the time of day.Big Pistons Forever wrote: ↑Wed Dec 26, 2018 7:55 pm I got my PPL when I was 17 and regularly rented airplanes. Ironically it would be another 8 years before I could rent a car.

Risky question here. What was the experience level of the pilots? Give or take.

Well Peakbagger, that’s about the depth of a reply I’ve come to expect. Care to field the question? Or is “frig off” pretty much it for a deep thinker like yourself.

Re: Air Tindi Flight Missing
Were these guys shooting an approach? Were they enroute? Very few details. This company had a fatal C208 accident not all that long ago. No red flags here.

Re: Northern Skies Pikangikum
Does anyone know where the 'Wheels down" as in 'What is your wheels down time? or as Illya says 'Wheels down in five" came from. I think I've only heard that in northern Manitoba. Everybody uses it instead of “Fort Whatever in Five.....”. Like nobody is intelligent enough to know that means LANDING...

I'm not on about low time pilots in the airline industry. Cadets with 250 hours etc., but the small operator in the smaller centres. The "here's the book, your ride is Thursday..."types. No FSI training, no SIM, but minimal training, for pilots "just out of the puppy mill..." Would YOU get into the ...

If there's any way you could take some vacation time and fly it yourself you should consider totally consider it. If you don't have enough experience to feel comfortable with that, see if you can find a more experienced pilot to come along with you. I've done a few really long cross countries over ...

Re: Ice Without Fear
The story of the deaths of two congressmen...never found. Quite possibly a CFIT accident caused by trying to avoid the icing instead of caused by icing. I have flown small airplanes in the Anchorage area...you really don't want to screw around with marginal weather and if you do...you better really...

I'll take a stab at it, for fun. Props were set coarse instead of where they should have been. Or mixture. Yeah, dumb guess, but top it then --- Set your props for climb RPM for takeoff (long runway, nice day) sometime. You will notice very little difference in runway used! And, it's quie...

So I decided to look up the ATR-42-320 numbers, because I've never flown one (used 'basic')...... - MTOW: 36,817 lbs - Operational Empty Weight = 24,030 lbs (typical in service) - Max Fuel Load = 9,921 lbs - 22 pax x 188 lbs (avg male / female even split) = 4,136 lbs Takeoff weight no cargo or lugg...

No access to check and/or deice wing and tailplane Yeh. that is a perfect reason to wreck an airplane and kill a passenger. If it turns out contamination was the cause of this accident they were in the following position. They had no idea there was contamination on the airplane because it was to co...
