Re: Larry King USair 1549 Interview
Pilots did fine but seriously... Larry King "Why are you still alive". "Can you install a heavy metal grill to prevent birds from being ingested" Yes, Bruce Dickenson can be on the left and Steve Harris on the right. However it was good of Sully to say he and the co-pilot are "near ...

Apparently he did say Mayday Mayday Mayday, as he states in the interview.

Re: I wonder how difficult it will be for widow.
Good luck Widow. All I can offer is that after dealing with bearucrats for many years they don't like direct confrontation. VERY respectfully, the "crying widow" (not you - just sayin) will be given her obligatory chance at the mike and then be ignored....unless said person is logical and respectful...

Does anyone know if they were ever compiled somewhere other than here? I spent some time a while back and compiled all the stories I could find on both Avcanada and PPRune, the many posts that came up in between the stories, and some pictures here and there. It's an 85-page Word document that's 10....

Re: U.S. Airways Jet Down in Hudson River
Not getting off topic but nice link CYXE. It's interesting to compare the differences in RT between AWE1549 and TOM253H and in particular the word Mayday. AWE1549 and ATC never say it. TOM253H says it on intitial and again sporadically at the start of almost every Tx. They even call themselves "Mayd...

Re: U.S. Airways Jet Down in Hudson River
Cat I was supporting the absurdity of the phrase "mayday". There was another thread a while back where some folks swore up and down that was the phrase to use - I didn't agree then and still don't. You are correct - don't need to say "mayday" to convey the message - radios have come aways since the ...

Re: U.S. Airways Jet Down in Hudson River
Jesus Christ that crew forgot to make the three Mayday calls and squalk 7700. :drinkers: 24 years and I've never heard "mayday" yet, but I've had plenty of emergencies. Seen quite a few 7700's but that was usually guys who couldn't talk - or the seat did the talkin for them...never did like those. ...

Re: Canada Labour Code and full time status?
Little guy here is an interesting read on a related topic: http://www.emondharnden.com/publications/oct98/constlay.shtml It doesn't deal directly with "scheduled hours" but it does talk about them in the context you mentioned earlier being constructive layoff. Read the whole thing as it does talk ab...

Ah yes ...soon the litigation vultures will circle.... Another major difference between Canada and the good ole U S of A. In Canada I bet many would be thankful just to walk away and be compensated for any actual loss. In the U S of A, "I suffered emotional distress.....waaa. I've flown six times si...

Is it safe to say that landing short, trundling through approach lights, likely ripping the plane to bits could cause a post "landing" fire? Of course the vis would have nothing to do with that........
