Re: College of Pilots
Then 172 thinks the "college" ought to limit the number of CPL's issued. What PLANET are YOU from? Do you think everybody with a BA has a job? Some do....unlike young pilots with an inbred sense of entitlement, they get other jobs till the market improves. Doc, I didn't say that. I said "unless the...

frayed 172 exhaust pipe
I was visiting a flight school down south, looking at their older 172SP to maybe do some training on, prob year 2002 or so. Anyway, it has 7200 TT, and the end of the exhaust pipe was frayed and jagged sharp metal. I've never seen a 172 exhaust pipe look that way before. Is this something normal, or...

Re: College of Pilots
Again. The real problem of low wages/benefits is not being addressed. Unless the college can somehow limit the amount of CPL's issued, or support airlines to create their own training academies which only take the best students based on academics/university degrees etc (like some of the major EU air...

Re: College of Pilots
Unless there is a way to limit the amount of CPL's being issued, how can you ever solve the problem of too many pilots for the amount of jobs available when it's a government issued license that has little restrictions to obtain.

Re: Your airplanes are crap/great!
I like the newer cessna 172 lineup due to the reliable radios, much better seats, and fuel injection. There is no difference in how a 172N or 172R or SP flies, at least to me, and i have flown many older Cessnas which are great, but i do enjoy the creature comforts on the newer models. I think it's ...

29 is young. Friend of mine just went to law school at the age of 34. Gave up a great, very high pay, corporate job which he did enjoy. He had a dream to study law, it was now or never, and admitted it will be 15+ years before he's back to the income he just gave up. I also know of another guy who i...

$20,000 sounds like a lot to you or me (Is it $20,000 per person? Or per aircraft with more than one person?) and business owners will make a big deal out of it, but $20,000 is less than what it costs to fill an Electra to the brim with Jet-A. A friend of mine owns the local A&W and he was complain...

I'm doing the CPL course from pilottraining.ca (harvs air). It's good but the video sure can give you a headache. The camera is all over the place as the instructor paces back and forth the front of the room. Please leave the camera on a tripod fixed on the powerpoint slide. If he wants to walk up a...

We all know interest rates will go up and when that mortgage come up, you'd better be in good shape. Thaz whud i thinks. Yes gold would'a been nice at 400/oz but to get in now would be hazardous! I think we're going to have extremely low interest rates for a long time to come. Economic activity isn...

Whats involved to become an AME?
A few dumb questions. Whats the typical career path to becoming an AME, say working for an airline or private shop, working on turbine equipment etc? I know SAIT in Calgary has an AME program, but then what? Whats the usual career progression and career outlook right now? Sorry, I really have no ide...

Can Canadians work in europe with an ATPL?
I'm just curious. I was looking at job postings at some small european operators and it seems to be the only license requirement listed. No mention of citizenship etc.

Re: Wait times for YEG and YVR courses
I called NavCanada regarding the next Alberta testing sessions. Unfortunately they have none planned but said there should be some coming up. While I have a green light, I'm curious how i did on the online quiz. I should have asked NavCanada if they can tell me where i stand.

Re: Wait times for YEG and YVR courses
Seems like a year or more in normal now. Did anyone from NavCan get back to you regarding your initial congnitive/personality tests? My green light saying they are complete in Phase two is all i have. I have no clue if i did well on them or not.
