I really enjoyed my Q flying out of YVR. Layovers were nice. Crew and ground staff were also nice.

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations

I believe the company has interests in dragging out the negotiations phase as long as possible and we have interests in ending it sooner than later. What do you guys think? Of course. If the economy implodes in 2024 and/or the fighting in the sandbox expands that could affect travel demand and the ...

Welp, you can guarantee than any sort of mushroom therapy or microdosing for people in aviation or other sensitive fields will be a hard unconditional no for the foreseeable future after this. Nope. If you tell your aviation medical examiner you smoked a doobie 25 years ago in the high school parki...

Re: Article on Porter's expansion and pilot supply in general

Interesting read thanks for posting. This part caught my eye: “It was also a blunt reminder of the worsening pilot shortage. To maintain its pace of growth, the company is actively targeting pilots who already have extensive experience flying jets for other carriers, either here or abroad. That’s no...

Stocks in everything is down. That time of the year but I think it’s gonna get real ugly in 2024/25 when mortgage renewals come up. If you go car shopping the financing rates are 7-11%

I am still seeing massive demand for travel when I’m at work but eventually it will slow down.

Re: Commuting at Jazz

As a new hire, you will most likely be on reserve, and get 12 days off. You can do 6 reserve days in a row in you get the mid-day reserve that starts at 8am. Only 5 in a row if you get the early 3am reserve. You could technically do 6on-1off-6on-1off-6on, then get a stretch off, but since schedules...

Even if you manage to keep your left seat with 4 years seniority from SWG you’ll very likely spend the rest of your career at the bottom of your roster after the merge.

Unless you are from the Eastern Bloc provinces and don’t want to commute to the big smoke, why would you work for PAL? The pay is not good at all and while I know everyone loves to bash Jazz, we have a very good contract (excluding pay).

Re: Commuting at Jazz

Yes you get paid the blocking average But since your wage is such a little percentage of the whole cost model, they’d rather pay a year 1 FO $200 to sit at home just so they don’t cancel a flight later in the day. You also have less days off on reserve. The airlines got this figured out and they’re...

I don’t even know why this made it on the news. Slow news day I guess. It was 1 flight/day. A fraction of a percent of WestJets flying. It’s either that news article, or more crap about politics. Although, maybe this is political. Blue pill vs red pill? Edited for the matrix reference Less politics...
