Re: Bearskin Metro 3 CYRL accident - Speculation thread
After recent events, I can assure you that a TPE331 can go from hero to zero in the blink of an eye. One thing to remember is that even in fine pitch, if the engine isn't turning, the drag is drastically minimized. Small consolation, I know... VERY interested to get some real info as to cause...

There is a reason all the tie down spots have chains..... \ ...because of all the 212s and 214s landing beside them? Oh, no, I was thinking of somewhere else  Bah, its right down the runway. Givv'er! Seriously, though; once hovered a C150 at the end of the runway. Got her tucked away, ...

Re: Boeing Dreamlifter landed at the wrong airport
Seeing as how that machine's primary job is shuttling "bits" made in Wichita up to Seattle/Everett, my guess is they were pretty light going in, maybe even empty. Which, of course, begs the question even more of how this could happen...

Re: Problem with JPI EDM930 fuel indications
While I am not familiar with the JPI system (I have an EI), I would suggest there is a problem with the calibration or initial setup. What has JPI Tech Services had to say on the matter? They should be pretty good at trouble-shooting the problem.

North of Crawford Bay? Grey Creek pass? There's a couple of wrecks back there. Terrible news.

That's Nelson CZNL.
Never flew the plane, knew quite a few who did.

Re: FTU - OC
I'm not saying that a big operation can't fail, but they are far better suited to deal with the administrative burden that running a simple training organisation requires. Consider how many small ops have closed up shop in the last, oh, 5 years compared to large ones. MRC had other issues...

Well, I guess not everyone's experience is the same... It took my wife and I a total of 4 months from the time we started the process, to being Incorporated with a 406/702/703 VFR OC and CTA License. Fees were exactly what was outlined in the regs. Additional legal and accounting fees were strictly ...

Re: quick question: about vs. around
Here's a challenge for you as a new CPL: Have a look in the regs, and try and figure out why an 18,000hr AC Pilot would maybe not be able to do your PPL/CPL training. Hint- it has more to do with his licenses than his experience...

C337 patrol/survey in the Purcells, Selkirks, and Monashees, and flying floats in the same area. Unbeatable! Christmas Eve Tradition- The Shepherd
Here it is again, my annual reminder to my aviating brothers and sisters: CBC will be airing Al Maitland's reading of Frederick Forsyth's classic The Shepherd on December 24, at 18:30hrs. Not to be missed. http://www.cbc.ca/programguide/program/as_it_happens_the_shepherd/ Hopefully OFD can ring in w...

Re: Advanced Training.
It takes even the most ambitious student a certain amount of time to get to "Zen" with the aircraft, when it simply does what you want it to do without you having to think too much about it. I have seen VERY few at the PPL level who are at that point with their flying: It takes time, and experience ...

I'd be more interesting in hearing why both engines failed, but it seems we will never get an answer: http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/2/cadors-screaq/rpt.aspx?lang=eng&rptcads=2008C4276&cads=&cadorsno=2008C4276®cd=0&occdtefrom=&occdteto=2012-11-17&occtypecd=0&fatop=%3E=&fatal=0&aeroidtxt=&ae...

Re: Best STOL Mods, Cessna 182
I've done a fair bit of research, and it seems the ART Wing extensions give the best bang for the buck. Upgross to 2950lbs, 25% reduced takeoff run on floats, easy install.
