It appears some crow eating is required on my part. As it also appears things have changed very much for the worse since I retired.
I had heard that TC and NavCanada management where being a bunch of pricks these days but I was unaware as to the extent.

My apologies to all concerned.

Hey grand poppa, if you ask and ask the same pilot over and over again politely what you're required to have (by CAR's) and they still mess it up. Then ya, write them up. Maybe then they will learn how to do their job! Correct young Grasshopper. :D But you sure as hell don't have to do it the first...

Considering how many people I've had to write up for not calling 5 minutes prior to the estimated time of starting an IFR approach lately... I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO WRITE YOU UP . You've just told me you've violated CARs. Did anyone ever tell you that you were hired as a Flight Service Specialist N...

I am not sure that this is all that unusual.
Here is a similar shot that I captured at Calgary in 2003. There was nothing unusual at all about the landing.

OK, so the ERAA has been trying to close CYXD since the 60's...damn!! G Ah………both airports were run by Transport Canada until about 1990. The ERAA has been running them since. I guess you could say XD has been in a slow decline since 1942 when there were about 1500 landings in 24 hours  . O.K...

J31, with all due respect my man U can't blame the current situation at YXD on that "one operator". Admittedly they did push the ERAA, but if you remember there was a time not too long ago when full 737's flew into XD. The ERAA has been trying to close XD ever since they built the International...i...

THE faa type who thought up the approach names must have been a Sylvester and Tweety fan. He/she also must have been old enough to remember the black TV star, the late Flip "The Devil Made Me Do It" Wilson I would hazard a guess the FAA had nothing to do with the actual make-up of the approach char...

Tower: Empress xx Cleared to land, check the gear down.

Empress xx: Gears on its way.

Tower: You mean you didn't bring it with you? :D
