Re: YYZ issues

Yesterday was -7 hardly cold for any Canadian outside of Toronto. I waited an hour at the gate after the last pax before seeing any ground crew re appear, it's seems they are always short staffed, same with Nav Canada. Another problem with YYZ is it's not properly laid out and is an inefficient desi...

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

One more thing Dadiem, if you just wait a few months you'll get a way better job because if no one applies WJ will have to actually use its pilots and will then be hiring. Now if you just want to budge the line (and literally take my left seat after I have just been here almost 8 years) then you ar...

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

Unfortunately many employed there have vested interest in the company's performance, a la stocks. Not sure if kiboshing performance metrics in the interest of a political statement will be a thing. Doubt many Westjetters feel like "owners" anymore  . Trust in business is a curiously fickle an...

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

AC would still be profitable without Rouge the past couple years with the price of oil and long term contracts. CR could've taken a 2 yr holiday.

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

Rouge was forced on AC pilots by final arbitration and they are all AC pilots on the same list, also the Rouge initial contract was a carbon copy of WJ! Not even close to the same thing a swoop! Swoop is to WJ, what Flair was to KFC, where are they now? So what is the answer, if not blacklisting? S...

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.

so should everyone blacklist Rouge pilots? They seem to be taking over more and more mainline flights for little in return at AC mainline and at cheaper rate and is in part reason why Swoop has come to be. How about blacklist Sky regional pilots, or Flair, or Georgian, Encore or Jazz? It's funny eve...

Re: CBC: Pilot shortage

I met an F-16 pilot from the USAF last year and he told me they are having problems recruiting pilots. Unbelievable. I'd having given my left nut to be an Air Force pilot. Apparently the job isn't attractive like it once was. I'm not sure what can change that. I love my job now, but it was a challe...

Re: Captain requirements?

. Training is really quite good :) The training is indeed top notch. That said, one has to put in effort in preparing and learning. The number of failures largely stems from those who think they'll be taught, or think they already know it all, which shows they are not ready for the left seat. There...

Re: Captain requirements?

Ok so one guestion for you guys... You are next in line for left seat on a prop at Jazz, have descent seniority and pre 2015 pay....so you stay or take the FO position with a charter airline in Canada waiting for an upgrade for 2-4 yrs? And of course starting back at 0 seniority and pay that is les...

Maybe there is an Indian version of EVAS that's looking for Canadians with degrees looking to immigrate to India.

Re: Direct entry Capt

Sounds like WS took a page from AC with the magic carrot dangle trick. Oh how many have fallen for that one. So to get this straight. To get to WS, you should go to Pasco. To get to AC you should go to Encore. To get to Sunwing or Transat, go to an AC express. Sound about right?

Re: Drones to monitor carpool lanes in Ontario

The RX-3 uses four ducted fans for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and a gasoline-powered rotated engine for forward flight, with a maximum speed of 90mph ( 144km/h ) and normal cruising speed of 56-70mph (90-112km/h), making it suitable for tracking at normal highway speeds. Loop hole... just...

Re: WestJet introduces WestJet Link

I’m sure if AC management had it their way all narrowbody flying would be at Jazz/Sky/GGN and mainline would be only wide Body. The advantage WS management has for the time being is that there is absolutely nothing protecting scope. Swoop could very well be the airline the 787’s go to. I'd go as fa...
