Re: Missing aircraft near Langley BC
They found pieces of that 777, probably all thats left after a high energy impact Well... pieces of the 777 found civilization... How far would a 172 drift in the current of the Fraser River? To the ocean? Would anything stop it? I once found a submerged body which we had been searching for 800 fee...

Re: Ontario Stay Home Order coming in.
So 2 options here. As stated above, educational purposes. Second would be "transportation sector". In my opinion, ppl related training would not qualify, cpl and any other commercial proficiency/upgrades would. So, if you really want to continue your ppl training then you would need to sign up for t...

Re: Paperless Digital Maintenance Tracking program
For the same reasons a commercial operator might want to digitize. Having a backup. Not having to carry a paper copy with you. Have you ever seen a paper log for a 30 year old airplane that flies 50 hours a year? A lot of them look like a paperback novel that's been dropped in a bathtub and dried i...

Re: Paperless Digital Maintenance Tracking program
One other over-riding consideration here, perhaps... I wasn't thinking about Commercial operations here. I was thinking about private owners. I've got an amateur-built myself, that allows much more flexibility, but I still think a private operator could easily maintain a digital maintenance log wit...

Re: Corporate Helicopters
Anyone here flying or fixing corporate helicopters in Canada? Lots of resumes coming from all directions looking for work. Curious if that’s busy, utility seems beleaguered 😖 It's a pretty niche market in Canada but I guess if times are tight then it would be an option. Gotta trade in yur cowboys b...

Re: Helicopters 2020 Season
Dirt bags have small overheard, they will mostly survive. The norm will be as many employees on day rate contracts with no guarantees. It's already mostly that way for dirt bag outfits now. The war on Canadas natural resources will continue, there will be survey and drills but I don't expect any ki...

Re: 737 Missing - Jan 9 2020
Boeing must be getting nervous again... Really wondering what happened there. Isn’t it a 737-500? A crash with a jet pretty much only used in the 3rd world and Canadian north isn’t something they are probably too concerned about Boeing would be concerned about any negative attention right now.

the 505 is supposed to replace the 206 The 505 has the same drivetrain as a longdog. The arrius is decades old. The cabin is a huge improvement, fancier panel. Bell is way behind in general. Even though the AS350 is an old design, it's been improved quite a bit over the years and is a proven workho...

Correct, central BC. A certain terribly run group, got big, then got sloppy and rude, its not doing very well. I won't name it, that would be rude. Their big pile of junk aka ancient 206 garbage should be auctioned off really cheap before too long I suspect. Now if only I could figure out why on ea...

the system itself does not have to be approved by TC. You simply have to prove to TC that your system, ... The software isn't purchased "approved", the system will be validated by TC prior to full use. They are catching up slowly with technology but eventually you should be able to just switch over...

And, accept the fact that peoples' sentences have already been decided. We do not live in a society where sentences can be changed ex post facto. It's right there in the Charter Of Rights - section 11(h), if you're wondering: if finally acquitted of the offence, not to be tried for it again and, if...

It's a terrible tragedy for the family, my condolences. I haven't heard what their flight plan was but it brings back memories of this accident: https://www.bst-tsb.gc.ca/eng/enquetes-investigations/aviation/2019/A19O0026/A19O0026.html Wintry night in a VFR helicopter over desolate areas is not a go...

Re: Air Canada Hires Influencers Promoting Travel Amid Non-Essential travel Ban
These people get free trips and then post about how awesome it is. They are merely shills and they want to keep shilling, that's their perogative. Bonus, they get to blog about their 14 day quarantine on return. Since the flights and hotels are near empty it really only cost aircanada the bad public...

Re: Paperless Digital Maintenance Tracking program
The systems are "paperless", they are not actually paperless. There's a lot to a digital maintenance program. It's not just an app on your ipad. It's data storage and specific software which needs to be certified by TC for your AMO or operation. There are internet based systems for multilocation use...

Re: Cool Video on 747-8 RTO testing.
By contrast, watch Airbus' 340-600 RTO test. If there were fuse plugs involved, they don't appear to function correctly. The actual flight test planning seems to be disorganized and archaic. Who plans a test with a high risk of fire yet not consider how to get the crew off the airplane? I'm pretty ...

Re: "COVID pricing" for aircraft sales?
Covid has raised the price of almost everything recreational. Anything from seadoo’s to boats to snowmobiles are 20-30% higher than I’ve ever seen. There was points this summer you couldn’t find a new camper or boat on a lot, this is all being driven but our inflation adjusted negative interest rat...

Re: Who Else Looked Up To C huck Yeager As a Kid?
Although he featured prominently in many of the books I read as a kid, I never followed him enough to know him outside of being a test pilot. All of those guys back then were half a second away from certain death and whether it was skill or luck that kept him alive I respect his contribution to mode...
