Re: Night VFR rule changes
It's quite common for pilots not to maintain their altitude when flying over unlighted dark moonless forest areas, Paying close attention to instruments at night and well above mountain tops , navigation at night is also more dufficult unless equiped with a good functioning GPS.

Re: How useful is the VFR OTT rating?
I did numerious flights over the clouds, in the winter time you will have low clouds and VFR on top is the way to go, just make sure your destination airport weather is ok for a descent out of clouds, when flying VFR on top its also good to have flight following especially in high density areas, in ...

Re: Aircraft sales tax
Aircraft are registered and certified airworthy by the federal canadian government, so why pay a provincial sales tax if the aircraft does not use the roads. As one person commented about provincial sales tax. And why do we pay the GST in the first place when the Government collects an income tax on...

Re: I'm going to court
If that were the case a pilot would have to wait to be cleared by the TC doctor before he could continue flying, In all my years as a pilot only three times did I receive a letter from the TC medical officer, one last year for an audiogram, one in 2014 and one in 1985.

Re: Flight instructor with no medical
When you hold a class one or class two instructor rating TC will do the test, if its a class three or four it can be done by a approved person. My flight tests in the past were always conducted by TC. Even though my student flight test records were 87%.

The medical doctor conducting your medical evaluation is in a better position than transport Canada's medical officer to see if you qualify for a pilot's licence, If you don't pass the doctor conducting the medical would say so,
