Re: Pilot Seniority Porting

The MEC is a disgrace and it's not the first time they've stabbed the newcomers in the back (ie: the 30% pay raise increase proposal). With a 'brotherhood' like this why even bother with organized labour ? Get me my unions dues back and I'll fight my own wars thank you. The newcomers did not have t...

Re: Pilot Seniority Porting

Can someone explain to me how this is fair to anybody at Jazz? Are you seriously telling me that someone hired at Bearskin can basically walk into a left seat after spending a couple years at a completely different company, jumping over someone who has actually been working at Jazz for several year...

Re: Pilot Seniority Porting

This LOU from what I can see is to provide a means to secure a source of experienced Pilots. All of the Regional's are faced with the same dilemma. Jazz would like nothing more than to move those who currently sit at the top of the pay scale off the list and somewhere else. This was accomplished in ...

Re: Commuting/Transfering

If your objective is to move up the seniority list quickly and secure a left seat, then YUL is likely the best place to go and of all the bases probably the cheapest to live in. If you have a family then perhaps a move is not an option but if you are solo, forget commuting, make the move and make th...

Re: Rumor about %30 pay increase

I doubt the JAZZ MEC will sanction any change unless there is a benefit to the entire group. What would benefit the group would be elimination of the B scale and introduce a 2 year VSP. Extending the DB plan to those on the DC plan is not likely.

Re: What do you think of the new uniforms?

If they cared how we look they wouldn't supply MC hammer suit pants (thankfully this is changing now, although maybe a bit too much to the other extreme). If they had a real uniform fitting like some other airlines, with a tailor and actual adjustments made that would be a start. So many pilots wal...

Re: Winter Bid released today.

Will we potentially see some new hires (say within the last 6 months) bid onto new aircraft with this bid? Newer CRJ FO's being bumped to other aircraft? Where will all the RJ Captains go from YYZ if YYC and YVR Q and -8 Captains with much higher seniority bid onto the RJ? The lowest RJ Captain in ...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Ski_bum, how do you figure this will exhaust the Jazz PML? 80% of 280 is 224, the minimum is 495 offers of employment, so far about 100 have been hired leaving a minimum of 400 to go. Some will take the buy out but I don't think that will be as high a number as you think. Even if AC hires 280 in 20...

Re: jazz Crew Requirements Jan. 2016

That is the second time I've heard about the bright future at Jazz once the mechanics ratify their contract. I don't get it; is there something in their tentative agreement that is groundbreaking? All scope issues are locked via the ACPA contract so I don't understand the excitement over the AME co...

Re: Hiring Clarification

AC made a commitment to fill 80% of each course with pilots from Jazz who elected to place their name on the Mobility List. Not everyone on the list will be offered a position at AC and some who are will elect not to go. Once the list has been exhausted a new program will be implemented whereby AC w...

Yes, there is a private airstrip to the west of Ganges, just south of Lower Ganges Road and on the west side of Sharp Road. Many years ago there was also a private airstrip up by Fernwood on the north end of the island.

I think it is also fair to say that list will be exhausted long before 2026. Not everyone on the list will be offered employment and not everyone will accept the offer either. I guess we will know more come Feb when the next batch of crew req numbers comes out.

Re: Air Canada Pool

To be fair its 80% of hiring total over the next 11 years or untill the PML is exhausted. How it gets done is ACs discreation. They could run 1 whole GS of poolies for every 4 GS of Jazz. Not really. It is in the best interest of AC to remove as many off the PML given the cost savings afforded by t...

Re: Any hiring news??

wrong, if ratified ALL NEW HIRES will be on flow list in order of seniority. Now that they have a list however they have to work through it. Depending on AC's needs my best guess is a new hire could slide over to mainline in 4-6 years. Not entirely accurate. New hires are going to be placed on a se...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

The TA ratification process concludes today. The process of "Flow" to AC has probably already begun, in that the list is being compiled and files pulled so that AC Flt ops can review. Once the list is exhausted a new program will be put in place whereby AC will hire the majority of it's pilots from ...

Most companies have such provisions. There is a legal requirement for the company to keep track of your time, specifically as it pertains to your time free from Duty.

You can't buy into the plan. You can choose between 3 types of investing models as a function of your goals or you can take a more hands on approach and choose from their specified set of funds.

What are the procedures for landing with anti-ice on? Does the INCR REF switch have to be selected? Can it be switched off during the approach once clear of icing?
