Care to give some examples?

You should probably back up comments like that with some statistics or something. Otherwise your credibility on the subject is zero.

Upgrades have not stopped. However, any slowdown in the process has nothing to do with candidates going to AC. There are other factors at play.

Re: Jazz to launch pay for type rating program

Guys let’s calm down and step off our high horses and face the facts. Flying an airplane is really not that hard. There are a handful of exotic emergency situations that an inexperienced airline pilot might face but the odds are slim to none these days with all the training, automation, dispatch, m...

Re: Encore, then Jazz?

Let's say Encore called and not Jazz, and you've been offered a GS date at Encore. For someone wanting to hold YVR or YUL as a base, would you considering switching companies after a few months (considering you hate your current job) if you're successful in the Jazz interview process? I'd venture t...

Re: Jazz Dash 8 and Menzies Fuel Truck Collide in YYZ

Interesting - my company has clear limits for taxi speed(s) as part of the SOP. It is also part of the FOQA monitoring. Taking a corner too fast can put a huge strain on the tires due to the sideloads involved. Can shorten tire life significantly - $$$$! Jazz also has taxi limits published on all t...

Re: Wil Jazz hire with instructing time only?

The management at airlines don't give a rat's arse about the quality of pilots. They just want the ones that are YES men (and women) and sign cheap contracts. I don't think that's a secret. Also, having worked at a "certain" company before, and gotten e-mails from "certain" managers about "why flig...

You also need 250 multi. Under 1000 with no multi will not be given serious consideration.

Uh, why are we on a public forum discussing our own business? Take the discussion to the Alpa Web board or at the very least the Private Forum on here (if anonymity is important to you). Naming people on here is not fair, especially if you don't intend to sign your name to it. But even still, not c...

You’re right, actually let’s make an avcanada award and give it to them for being the best paying regional. We will nickname it smartest company on the short bus award. Re: Classic Dash replacement??

The 301s are the orginal Time Air machines of which there were 10. Does that mean all 10 will be withdrawn from service? If I'm correct there are 18 311s which in theory should be able to go through the lifetime extension program? Air Ontario also had 4 301's in their fleet. Not sure how many of th...

Great story FADEC, thanks for sharing. I remember flying YYZ-YVR in a 1011 as a young kid. In my mind that airplane was enormous. I know I had a cockpit visit too but don't remember details; I was probably 6 or 7 years old. Over the years I've been fascinated by the story of the airplane, especially...

I guess if you have 0 pic, but if you're coming into the airline with 400-500 pic, its easy at a lot of them to get PICUS for those last few harder to get hours. Jazz, Porter, are upgrading guys in as little as 8 months with fresh ATPs. Don't know about Porter, but nobody at Jazz had 8 month upgrad...

Re: Halifax crash report coming Thursday

Completely agree Gilles. I've become more and more disappointed with the TSB reports published over the last several years. In my mind the last well-written report (of a major accident) was SWR111. Now, the TSB is absolutely focussed on reporting superfluous details that quite frankly make me sleepy...
