Re: New hire bids

^ What do you thank would stem that attrition, Rudder? Is it still a question of $$? For those whose ultimate goal is AC? Probably not. But a more orderly, predictable, transparent, and effective movement system from Jazz to AC plus more competitive pay might help to stop some from jumping ship. Fo...

Re: New hire bids

What day does that January Equipment bid come out that has been alluded to a few times in this thread? If it runs (company option) - January 15. Usually runs when there are meaningful changes in equipment staffing or location from previous bid. The disposal of the CRJ200’s would logically meet this...

Re: q400 pilot a good path to e2 pilot?

Where is Porter going to get all these pilots? Unless a company like Flair goes under I don’t see it. They’ve pretty much tapped out the Jazz supply of Embraer pilots. The few remaining are lifers or are very low time first officers. When there are layoffs/freeze in hiring at AC in 6-8 months? That...

Re: Porter/Air Transat merger prediction

Neither company has the cash to buy the other. One isn’t publicly traded so a stock swap is not an option. It remains in both carriers interest (currently) to maintain a strong commercial relationship based on schedule and interline fares. TS needs to focus on north/south and NATL city pairs. Porter...

Re: Porter/Air Transat merger prediction

I see it heading that way. I'd guess within the next 10 years (assuming no more curveballs like Covid). Short term we get this E2 network established and Transat continues their financial turnaround. RD made his generational wealth by selling Air Ontario to AC. What's to say in 10 years MD isn't lo...

Re: New hire bids

In mid-January there (probably) will be an equipment bid. It will look out 12 months but really will be reflective of the peak monthly flying months of June/July/August. It will also describe the Base/Equipment plan going forward. Current planned fleet is 98 airframes but most fleet types are unders...

Not the CBA. The Canada Labour Code.

Click starts running after Notice of Dispute filed by one of the parties (impasse in collective bargaining).

Re: Realistic upgrade time

True. But that is more historical than projective. There are pilots at AC that are going to do 35-40 years as CA. That’s right - CA pay for nearly 4 decades. Right time - right place. Probably not the case for a pilot hired in 2024 at AC. True but there's also pilots at AC that are going 35-40 year...

Re: Realistic upgrade time

This exercise is a fool's errand. The upgrade time for FO's who've been around for 9 years is about 9 years+/- 1 year. The farther down the list goes, the greater the uncertainty. Keep in mind that, historically, the upgrade time is 15 years. For a 30 year career, 1/2 will be in the left seat, half...

Re: Jazz or Porter?

Just curious - is Porter accepting pilots WITHOUT the E170 endorsement as DEC? Can a Jazz Q400 or CRJ CA with a reasonable experience level expect serious consideration as an E2 DEC, or is that opportunity limited to E170 or large jet (737/757/767) CA only? Porter is absolutely taking DECs without ...

Re: Should I go to Jazz?

Hi, looking for some advice. I am a 750 hour ATR FO working in northern Canada. My schedule is pretty good, I have the opportunity to work 12 days a month, can do 2 on, 2 off or a week and a week, whatever I basically want as long as it follows CARs regs. I'm building about 60-80 hours a month. I a...

Or Porter….. if you are one of the fortunate few to get the E-jet.

Re: New hire bids

For those who don’t know, Air Canada pays for the training at Jazz so I have no problem with guys doing this. Remember it is Air Canada who is 100% to blame for the mess we have at Jazz. Not coming close to the 60% flow. Violating the CPA most recently with PAL Airlines. Meddling in the recent nego...

Re: New hire bids

You know, you’re right, come on over buddy but like Nick said, no guarantee you’ll get the jet or even log your 200 hours in the time fram you’re looking at. This is a sure way for a company to start looking at bonds, I’m honestly surprised they haven’t yet. Anyhow, companies that don’t have a bond...

Re: What's with all the geeks on the street at Pearson

Probationary pilots should not be used as cannon fodder for the cause. There are probably over 1000 pilots still on probation with hundreds more to be added. Surviving probation means being invisible and unheard. If nobody recognizes your name then you are doing a good job. Probationary pilots get t...
