Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Even if you manage to keep your left seat with 4 years seniority from SWG you’ll very likely spend the rest of your career at the bottom of your roster after the merge.

Auto workers in Canada: “ The contract includes base hourly wage increases of nearly 20 per cent for production and 25 per cent for skilled trades, a faster timeline for workers to reach the top wage tier, improvements to pensions and two new paid holidays.” A group putting the brakes on inflation....

Unless you are from the Eastern Bloc provinces and don’t want to commute to the big smoke, why would you work for PAL? The pay is not good at all and while I know everyone loves to bash Jazz, we have a very good contract (excluding pay).

Here’s an older article from 2016. His best friend died in a crash under somewhat strange circumstances.

Buddy is wrecking aircraft all airlines lately because airlines don’t pay well to get competent Buddies and it’s now a revolving door so you get lowest common denominator Buddy.

Re: Commuting at Jazz
Yes you get paid the blocking average But since your wage is such a little percentage of the whole cost model, they’d rather pay a year 1 FO $200 to sit at home just so they don’t cancel a flight later in the day. You also have less days off on reserve. The airlines got this figured out and they’re...

Re: WestJet Suspending Flights Between YYZ and YUL.
I don’t even know why this made it on the news. Slow news day I guess. It was 1 flight/day. A fraction of a percent of WestJets flying. It’s either that news article, or more crap about politics. Although, maybe this is political. Blue pill vs red pill? Edited for the matrix reference Less politics...

You guys let me know when loads / demand fall off a frigging cliff. Its coming. IMO Canadian economy is cooked. Done. Fried. Now. Get your positions secured now. I predict a soft recession and a rebound early q2, 2024. What’s going to spur on a recovery? Trudeau and his cronies have this country on...

Inflation is WAAAAY higher than 4%. That’s the figures the Lie-beral government tells you. I wouldn’t trust anything this government says. Nothing at all. Everything is significantly higher than it was a few years ago.

Re: Jazz cancellations
There were a lot of canceled flights this summer but in the last month or so there are fewer canceled flights. Our flying has been drastically cut back. EWR flights get canceled a lot due to ATC flow and weather as well. If there’s storms in the NYC area it will be a mess.

Should have tried Rouge transatlantic on a 767 if you want see truly uncomfortable. 8 hours of Hell. Few flights were that long. We had 31" seat pitch compared to the 29" on the 319. Seven across in the back had one middle seat, 4 aisle seats, and two windows. Not bad. Never had anyone complain tha...

I’m sure they would love to close the YYC RJ base but they can’t afford to lose all those pilots to other companies. Till then it’s deadheading in and out.

I’d go to the US yesterday if I could. I’m still hopeful they will start sponsoring Canadians in the future like they do for Australians. I just can’t get myself to go through the immigration lawyer process but kudos to you that are. The quality of living here is on a steep decline. You are taxed le...
