Re: Westjet ad.
Puzzles me why they can’t just open the flood gates and flow as much Encore guys as possible to fill their void  I know that you're being sarcastic, but some people on here are going to take it the wrong way. Encore doesn't have enough qualified FOs to upgrade to captain to fill in the sp...

Re: Potential Strike Topic?
Sounds like Sky may very well be the new Georgian: With mods deleting topics and a management unwilling to negotiate with the union. Hopefully the pilots have the same end result of going to Jazz. I'm not seeing several diversions a week due to maintenance issues yet, so I wouldn't go th...

Re: Encore wrinkles a Dash-8
Poor decision making on a couple of points, and poor aircraft operation and technique. A Q400 Captain should know better. As for the report; not impressed (nor surprised) with the TSB. There's a glowing error that I see in it right away (small, but it is there) and it brings the rest of the report'...

Re: Perimeter Shamattawa
When the height of the snowbank exceeds the height of your wings, it might be time to start refusing to land there until better snow removal infrastructure is put in place. Nah, those snow banks prevented the aircraft from really going off the side of the runway. Think of them like bumpers in the b...

Re: Encore wrinkles a Dash-8
If you look at the Matrix, it's completely possible that he has a lot of other 705 time. It's also possible that he has a lot of classic Dash 8 experience, but TC is too inept to understand that they are the same type. What does TC have to do with it? The report was written by the TSB. Shit,...

Re: Some kind of emergency in Cyqu
Listening to ATC around 0200-0230Z there is a Jazz departure, Encore departure, and HOU doing circuits. No emergency.
Listened to 0130-0200 as well... no emergencies.

Re: Spin Entry Controls
I was always taught..ailerons neutral prior to entering a spin. The C-150's were easy to spin, but the C-172's took a little persuasion to enter a spin cleanly...I remember right at the point of stall pulling back on whatever elevator control was left and bumping on, then off a few hundred RPM mome...

Re: Encore wrinkles a Dash-8
That report is garbage. They imply that the higher speed caused the captain to push the nose down at low altitude. They completely ignore the fact that the FO (PM) was likely on the last pairing of his line indoc and the captain would have had his hands full. Shit happens. The passengers and crew a...

Thanks
If you want to fly less and still get paid, go to YYZ.

Ah well, I'm not armchairing, I wasn't there and the capt had some experience. But obviously it was a fuckup so it's hard to say the factors weren't factors. That report is garbage. When they heard about the longer delay, they approached the staff to get Jesse's medication from his checked baggage. "He needs medication every five hours or else he's in pain," Woo says. Really? You packed your medication that you need every five hours in your checked luggage? If everything goes ...

How refreshing and good it is to have an informative, helpful and respectful post on AvCanada! No slagging, name-calling or emotionally immature antics. Kudos. That can be changed you flap wagon. Keep applying to Jazz. They're flowing over 300 guys this year to AC. Right now Encore has committed to...

Re: Your experience at BFC or Spectrum
Thanks for your update.I've recently sign up with Durham Flight Center and so far they seem upfront, their prices are reasonably fair and there's no membership fees. They're definitely on the better side, but I have flown and worked at much better places. That being said, I would have no problem re...
