Re: Zulu 3 repairs
Had a couple buddies send in their Zulus for repairs as well, had to pay the shipping costs. Darn shame... don't want to start a debate but with Bose, under warranty, shipping costs were covered by them, shipping labels were sent for returns. It's a shame, I'd expect Lightspeed to provide the same l...

Re: Toughest Written Exam???
If you study well, the INRAT is very straight forward.
I had the same problem as you when I wrote my CPL years back, finding the airports on the maps. Took me a good while to find the departure and arrival airports. And wasn't a tablet user at the time.

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
I've learned through experience to buy a watch which has the functions which you need (as opposed to think will impress people), and which is easy to read - meaning good contrast of hands to face, and not too cluttered a face (see item one). I found that several mid range priced watches actually us...

uhm..... I'm PRETTY sure he doesn't mean, pay for the flying yourself for the "You build your hours normally, by flying smaller airplanes". What he means is fly smaller gigs, survey, skydiving, charter etc... to build up your hours, then move up the ladder in the industry to regional or something co...

Re: Converting expired CPL IR into FAA
For converting, you need a valid license and medical. Your medical validates your license. In Canada, for example: Class 3 medical = PPL, Class 1 medical = CPL/ATPL.... If the regulations with your CAA states that you need to write exams, or pass a flight test, then that needs to be done and signed ...

Re: FAACA FAAIA exams
Gleim is USA based and offers excellent products for conversion from TC licences to FAA certificates. But this person is asking about the FAAIA and FAACA exams which are Canadian exams for conversion of FAA certificates to TC equivalents, for which Gleim does not offer products. So you would be loo...

Many solutions out there, some free, others subscription based, and others one time payment for life. Re: King Air First Officer program
Just my opinion..... Website sends red flags in my head. Looks to me like just a scheme to pull money from young pilots trying to 'make it'. EDIT: I checked the whole website and well.... meh.... just a FTU providing advanced training after multi-IFR stage. But in all honesty, not necessary in Canad...

Re: Pulling the Chute
Not a Cirrus, chute deployment handle is mounted on ceiling between and above the two pilot seats. And not a Diamond, I've flown them during training and doesn't look remotely close. Judging by the cockpit, I will guess it's a light-sport/homebuilt of some sort.

Re: "Stickers" in Aviation Document Booklet
Best thing to do, is after 2 months of waiting, call up the TC licensing office. It kind of gives them a nudge, kind of like a stuck car in winter. I've done it twice over the years of acquiring my stickers.

Re: Tp 103014 Toronto vnc
Do not bring your own map to the TC exam. Regardless you could get a nav portion from a part of the coubtry you've never seen before. Chances are it won't be your backyard. You also can't use your phone for obvious reasons, you'll either have it off and leave it at the front desk or just lock it up ...

Gleim has good training material and practices quizes and tests through their online ground school for both the CPL and IFR TC-FAA conversion exams.

Yup, get a copy of From The Ground Up as supplementary material and he should be set. pilottraining.ca is a great too and perfect for him to do at his own pace.

Re: Logbook entries and signoff
And I'll probably end up buying a new logbook and rewrite everything in order when I do apply for an interview (of course I'll keep the old one), just to really make sure everything is crystal clear. That's what I did. Upon completing all my training, I rewrote a new clean logbook as my 'interview'...

Re: Can a student (PPL) permit train in a multi engine aircraft?
On top of all listed above: cost, impracticality etc.... if the twin is not yours, I don't know how the owner, FTU/instructor(s), and yourself will agree with getting released for solo practice flights. There are plenty of solo sign outs during the PPL curriculum, and I can guarantee that most if no...

Re: Sporty's Learn to Fly course for Canadian Pilots
Ok, I'll type out an opinion. I'm not afraid. It's probably pretty good. All these kind of things are subjective. Some people will watch them and love them. Someone else will be angry because they spent the money and learned more reading from the ground up. One thing that will be slightly different...
