Re: New hire bids
The last contract extension (expires in 2035!) is a failure of both ALPA MEC and the company. The company wanted "cheap" labor costs and ALPA wanted to show that they were looking out for the pilots that wanted to flow over to Big Red. Time to get rid of the two tier pay scale and the pathetic year...

Re: New hire bids
I just did the interview with Jazz. I was told that you can get the base you want just a few weeks after the initial award. Every vacancy they make available to a new-hire course is available to a non-frozen Jazz pilot first (via standing bid). No freeze on Base. Freeze on initial type course (exce...

Re: September GS
Biggest tip I can give regarding life & life style at the start of Jazz. Don't chase type, get to where you want to live, you can always fly any type later on down the line, but liking where you live is 1000% more important than AC type. Not all types are at every base, so figure out what types are ...

Re: Flow through to AC
If the 60% is reduced or placed on hold, every CA at Jazz should go get their FAA ATP and be ready for when the door cracks even wider. I think it was you that mentioned you wouldn't get it unless having a job offer. But I don't think that will be an option for a while. Reason being, is any airline...

Re: New hire bids
Has there been any YVR vacancies for new hires since Jazz started hiring this year? Seems all YYZ/YUL On the most recent bid YYC had a few (I believe 9) Q400 FO Vacant positions available, however, YVR had 0 vacant positions after the bid was awarded. Waits for YVR and YYC will be longer than norma...

Re: Flow through to AC
How come there has been zero Jazz pilots in the last two New Hire classes at AC? Quota = 60% per annum not 60% per PIT course. Hey rudder, newbie here, I heard some talks about how AC is taking 60% from APLA now instead of jazz, is that true? The 60% annually from Jazz is written into the Jazz ALPA...

Re: September GS
Hi all, I imagine there are many of us who have gone through the entire process and are waiting to hear back with regard to GS next month and beyond. I’ve heard that it’s set to start on the 19th but was curious if anyone has heard back? Thanks for any info. Sincerely, A zombified 703 operator So f...

Pilots working on CPL
Hey Ya'll I just wanted to address something I see daily.....pilots coming to Jazz without their requirements for their ATPL and being held back from an upgrade. The best piece of advice my flight instructor gave me when I was finished my PPL and working on my CPL....... go look at the ATPL time req...

During the hiring selection, do everyone have a sim eval? During the sim eval can the applicants use the fms, fd ap ? What plane is used in the sim ? Last time I did a hold with conventional instruments and no map, it was 15 years ago :) Yes everyone will have a SIM eval No Autopilot, no FD, no FMS...

Re: Jazz pilot schedule?
YYC is a shrinking base with the most senior junior CA. It is the longest wait base to hold left seat and obviously the longest for a junior CA to hold the schedule they desire. One day pairings are limited on most rosters. Pairing quality and pairing mix change monthly. There is no crystal ball th...

Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?
Day 2 is Seniority, Base & Equip. draw, followed later in the afternoon by the ALPA indoc. and dinner...at least it was when I was there. Things might have changed. If one is coming from another ALPA carrier with membership in good standing, can they still draw first in their class? YES, in order o...

Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?
I’ll be in YYZ for g/s. What hotels do they put us up in and for how long? Elements hotel which usually has a kitchenette in the room, however, with current hotel issues in all Major cities you may not be at the Elements. CIT/CRM is 10 days IPT/GS/WRM is 9 days SIM is 9-10 days (plus days off which...

Re: Flow to AC matrix
I’ve been hearing multiple versions of the current state of the flow agreement between Jazz and AC. 1- Minimum of 60% of new hires at AC need to come from Jazz. The 60% is audited once a year to insure compliance. No less then 90% of interviews conducted need to be successful (rejection rate of max...

Re: 2022 and beyond Jazz Pilot Movement to AC
AC must meet the 60% threshold on an annualized basis. "Must" is a strong word. What are the consequences if they don't? The MEC/Negotiations Committee monitor the number of pilots going yearly and enforce the CA which mandates AC must hire so many pilots per calendar year. If AC misses their targe...

Re: New hire bids
May 16 class 8 pilots 5 are OTS New Hire Q400 for all YUL, YYC, YVR Do you know the OTS pilots' experience? around 3500 flight hours? Can we expect Q400 spots in YVR and YYC for 2022 or at least until the bid equipment? All 8 had ATPLs I believe. Jazz is posting an early equipment bid before Monday...
