Re: Air Canada Pool

little birdies are telling my at least 700 new hires by the end of 2017. Hang in there boys!
With almost zero retirements for the next 2 years, that would mean 50 additional aircraft in 3 years. Not a chance. The outlook is positive for a couple extra fins by then, but let's be realistic here.

Rouge flights on the 319 (about 140 pax) now operate with 3 FA's under the 1:50 rule.

Re: Air Canada Career Path

If my understanding is correct, when you apply for a job via their website, you apply for any spot at AC our AC rouge ? You get posted to an available spot, which may be at either, but most likely rouge. ● What about the RP - F/O deal ? When you join do they tell you after all papers are signed "you...

Rou(g)e is expanding rapidly
Where do you think those aircraft (and therefore the associated pilots) are coming from?

Hey guys, when there's NO hiring, you can apply with 10,000 hours on the space shuttle, and still not get called.

Re: Rouge Payscale

Not that I anticipate this happening. But say Rouge folds like Tango, Zip, etc... and your seniority doesn't hold it, you're jobless right? It wouldn't be any different than if the company got rid of all the Embraers, or all the domestic flying, or if there's another 9/11 or WWIII. Layoffs in rever...

Re: Rouge Payscale

Say you work for $100/hr, at 83:20 hours per month, you get $100,000/year. Rouge targets blocks to the 77.5hrs/month mark. So thats now $93k/year at the same rate. Sometimes mainline will give you as little as 60 hours work, therefore only $72k. That $100/hr sounds like a lot, but it's not the $200,...

Re: Making a great Salary now, should I move?

I think the implication is that new hires go behind those senior to them (existing). Managers, however new, now have access to B priority passes and bump all us mere mortals.

Re: Fed Ct Overturns Tribunal Dismissal of Age 60 Complaints

How about if we skip the forensics and the drama, and move positively forward, instead of dwelling on our recollection of events that have already transpired, that we cannot change? Haha! Well said Ray. If there ever was a group that should take that advice... (I'll check in with you guys ag...

One interview to become Air Canada pilots, who now fly the aircraft at Rouge as well. But you can pretty much bet on starting your career at the LCC.

Re: Air Canada Pool

How does it work if you want to transfer to mainline a few years down the path? At what level of the mainline payscale do you start? I've heard from an AC line pilot that you start at year 1 which to me doesn't make any sense. Can anyone confirm this? Years of service carry over in almost all cases...

Dec 2013 combined fleet is 193, in 2015 it's 206. The trickle of retirements will very slowly increase (at some point), as the elimination of retirements just delays the wave.

Re: Air Canada Pool

I think you're still better off than people not in the pool at all. The bid is just a 12 month guesstimate. People still age, and the 787's will generate more openings as they arrive for several years to come. I don't see a total stop to hiring in the future (excl. another 9/11, sars, bee extinction...

Re: Great news

Plus the 4 hour flight from YYZ (can't imagine too many originating from YYT), plus fuel stop. Charge up that tablet/laptop and bring lots of sandwiches.

Does WJ not fly aircraft to Dublin for maintenance anyhow? Good idea selling seats on flight that would ferry otherwise.
