Re: ONEX plans
The way I read it is WJ shuttling the West to Minneapolis then jumping off to Europe/Asia on Delta widebodies. Kinda puts a dampener on this supposed WJ widebody growth? Also every extra dollar being made from all this expansion and Joint-Venture will now go into Onex's pocket rather than the origin...

Re: ONEX plans
Everyone keeps praising this Delta "Joint-Venture" as some sort of magic that's going to change everything and bring in big bucks. Someone needs to break it down for me and explain what's the difference between this joint venture and a codeshare. To me it sounds just like any other airline "alliance...

Re: The Ol' PFO
I’m upset to see that the groundschool I was supposed to be in was mostly OTS and next ones will GGN. The level of entitlement here is shocking.. Sounds like the hiring board did a fine job. I think you hit the nail on the head there DT. Sometimes things aren't in the "matrix" 👍 Also I think the Av...

Re: Canada Jetlines: It's Turn to Fly
SmartLynx is notorious for outrageous Pay-2-Fly schemes in Europe as well. Through it's Baltic Aviation Academy it's basically a rotating door of Pay-2-Fly cadets that pins all the costs on the pilots. Lots of horror stories on pprune. Basically 2+ years of indentured servitude to a cruddy ACMI oper...

Re: The Ol' PFO
Got the PFO a few days ago. College Diploma. 1000 hrs RJ PIC. Clean flight tests record. Had many training Captains as my references. Interview I thought went amazing. Very confused with the results. I’m upset to see that the groundschool I was supposed to be in was mostly OTS and next ones will GG...

Re: Air Canada "haute cuisine" and incidence of Crew diarrhea?
I've probably had every variety of J class meal domestically over the last two years. From snacks to salads to 'main' course. I've never had any digestive issues. I think OP needs to buck up the fiber intake. PS - The omlette for me was different on my last outing out of YYZ - no sausage or potatoes...

Re: Canada Jetlines
To be honest I can't wait until Jetlines and even more of these entrants join the Canadian skies. It's about time the Canadian public figured out that air travel is not a right and rather an earned privilege. They'll learn the different standards of cost & service that have been present in Europe an...

Re: 787 courses.
I'm not sure what you would do with a 787 course as a contractor, unless you plan on working out of Singapore or other heavy maintenance outfit that may do work for AC. You certainly ain't gonna command $55/hr there unfortunately. Unless like you said you are just looking for a hefty tax write off? ...

Re: CBC News story / no-fly ban
Alas, after much of the travel has been completed - CC finally gets reported stolen. Credit card companies or transaction providers (ie: Moneris) will usually go after the company to recoup the false transactions, as a condition of providing said CC transactions to company. Are you sure about that?...

Re: CBC News story / no-fly ban
People are confusing 'stolen' vs. 'fraudulent' credit card. Stolen = real CC and acxount. Fraudulent = fake CC number that usually spoofs websites and transaction providers. (Very rare nowadays but prolific years ago) This was a 'stolen' credit card (and likely one with a very high limit) that was u...

Re: AVRO 100 First Officer or King Air 200 Captain
Dude, You're 50 years old. You got at most 15 years left in this gig. Do you really want to crawling around bags and seats in the ol' King Air whilst dealing with snarky 20somethungs in the right seat? Jump on the Avro. Big woop - won't be captain for a while. A cockpit wider than a 747 - full autot...

Re: DOH merge.
What about the AMEs?
Both AC and AT represented by same union (IAMAW), both with collective agreements that include maintaining seniority in the event of acquisition/merger. Lots of AC new hires with 2-3 year seniority about to get royally pooched by incoming Transat employees.

Re: What is it like being an aviation tech?
I'll just say that I have seen more AME's swap careers into HVAC then the other way round. But the hiring outlook is good. Air Canada is hiring avionics apprentices direct into YYZ now. 20-ish years old and straight to the airline you wouldn't have to worry about those days hunched into all those pi...
