Re: WestJet Pilots are very transpicious!
The CEOs not a Canadian citizen. If you showed him a map of Canada and asked him to name a point in the network, he probably can’t identify it. He has no clue about Medevac or float flying, and the steps pilots took to reach WestJet. Or what Air Canada was like before WestJet competed with it. The ...

Re: Hotel Rates for Commuters
Commuting is a choice, like it or not. Thousands of us do it and did it even when there wasn't a pilot shortage.
There's no shortage of pilot jobs right now. There's no valid reason you can't find a job somewhere in a location that pays enough to also live.

Re: ALPA Petition
I don’t have an answer to that but as near as I can tell the absolute worst case scenario is nothing changes. Are you sure about that? ALPA's mandate and structure gives the MEC a lot more power. Very few items such as MOU/LOU's etc need to be taken to the membership unlike ACPA's structure. You ca...

5hrs is the minimum required but I haven't seen someone meet the standard in 5 hrs in a very long time. They are just too green.

The union can’t legally strike unless the contract is expired. To do so would be
If the union goes on strike the CBA ain’t worth shit.

We'll never really know why. ONEX closed the deal on Dec 11, 2019. 3 months later the world was rocked by COVID and teh airline industry was unrecognizable

Re: Seneca College delayed training times ?
You get what you pay for. Subsidizing flight training should be like subsidized housing. The low levels of debt help them work for less money. Sorry but there's only 3 schools in ON with this privilege and only a handful across the country with this type of subsidized flight program. That's hilariou...

Seeing multiple posts on Linkedin from head office folks leaving (most of them after multiple years with the co.) What's going on? Just normal turnover, or something more sinister.. What's going on? Onex is going on. Correct, I have a large group of friends that currently and have worked there. Sin...

Re: WTHeck is going on at WestJet?
People are going to AC for the quicker upgrades which is exactly why pilots went to WJ 15 years ago. WJ 737 upgrades are currently 10 years vs under 4 years for the 737/320/220 and even 767 at AC. That's a big carrot that management can't really control. WJ is a mature airline now and can't grow li...

Some of those most loved airlines are the ones that carry the most KFC  They're finger-lickin' good! Really? Everywhere on Bearskin’s route structure has a road and most even have a KFC. You should be happy KFC is still popular. Without it you wouldn’t be able to pay your mom rent.

WJ mainline cancelling GS due to lack of experienced applicants
Is there any truth to WJ mainline cancelling ground schools lately? If so, is it due to lack of legitimately qualified candidates or for another reason? If so, what are the other reasons?

Re: Perimeter/Bearskin hiring so many departments
PS Pilots end up helping up north for one reason only (obvious if you've worked in the north) Because the company is too cheap to base reliable workers up there? The solution is simple as it is brilliant: fly the necessary workers up there on the first plane going north, and pick them up again on t...

Re: Perimeter/Bearskin hiring so many departments
Bad pay. Horrible senior management. Sad working conditions. They are the only 705 in Canada (if not North America) that pilots have to load/unload/deice/fuel their own plane. The last Collective Agreement expired a long time ago, and management has been dragging their feet. They recently offered a...

Do you still have to pay 15k for the honor of working there as an FO? Not as far as I know, but you do get the honour of making $29k plus some meagre hourly rate in year 1! Plus I’ve heard their new CEO was quoted saying something to the line of “pilots would work for free at perimeter” He is proba...

What's the downside? Your brothers at Mainline really have control on their seniority list vs the Company as the Company just manages it and ALPA reviews it to make sure it is correct. Take the pay now and ask for more in 12 months. If the pay doesn't slow attrition then the Company will know they h...

That turn is tight at the best of times in a widebody. A hard left (120 degrees). If the nose wheel tires don’t good contact with the concrete/asphalt you’d be on the grass exactly as they were very quickly. Exiting at the next taxiway would have been ideal in hindsight but the expectation is to exi...

Who would fly from YYC to Dubai? If you want to go to an unaffordable featureless place in the middle of nowhere floating on a lake of oil, then take a trip to Ft. MacMurray - at least they won't stone you to death for taking a sip of alcohol! And, if you want to transit elsewhere in the world, go ...

Thanks to the acclimatization requirements in the new CAR Flight & Duty times a Western based pilot is almost useless once they get east of YWG for overnights, especially mornings. Must easier to move YYZ pilots out west to cover
