Re: Flight Path interview
Hello, I did an interview with Encore in Calgary a week ago, just wondering if anyone has done the interview as well? How long do they usually contact you if they are hiring you? Thanks! Within two weeks if you have the qualifying amount of hours. If you are below that they ask you to notify them o...

Re: Mid-Air Collision Near Ottawa
Yeah, from the sounds of it, two GA aircraft... one an ultralight and the other something "larger" with two occupants. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/two-aircraft-collide-mid-air-over-ottawa-s-west-end-police-1.4162722 File photo. Cheyenne and a Cessna 150. Cheyenne diverted to YOW and landed safely...

Re: Evas
I'll bite! Here are some questions, likely to be asked by many people. 1. How much is the promissory note for? How long is it? How much money do you have to pay upfront? 2. How many hours do you fly per month on average? 3. At what point to you start getting overtime and how much does OT pay? 4. How...

Re: Do the majors even consider a loser with a pardoned DUI?
The above posts contain a lot of speculation and false information. 1. The United States (U.S.) does not deny entry to persons that has a "Driving Under the Influence" (DUI) conviction. That's it. Period. You are 100% incorrect about that. They can, and they do. You can read INS s.212 for details.

Re: Do the majors even consider a loser with a pardoned DUI?
I believe the question is to the extent of: "Have you been convicted of a crime for which a pardon has not been granted?" It's essentially as if it didn't happen once the pardon goes through. They can't ask, and you don't have to answer. Also, stay out of the USA until the pardon is granted. The Am...

Deconstructing the cargojet con you listed: night flying How do you feel about pulling all nighters 14 times a month? If youre young and have a robust immune system, great. But the detrimental effects of night shift over time will have compounding effects on your physical and mental health as you g...

Re: EVAS
EVAS is not lacking crews. I didn't get offered a position. They are lacking crews. Heard today they have declared a staffing emergency. It's in their CBA so they can force certain groups of people to work outside of their schedule. They also cancel a whole bunch of flight every month at the Halifa...

Re: Float Plane Insurance
I am a private pilot with 130 of total time. I owned (and recently sold) a cherokee 140 which I gained most of my hours. I now live on water in Northern Ontario and am looking to buy a 180 or 182 on straight floats. My question is about insurance. yes, i get it is a lot more than on wheels. Since I...

Helicopter Crash - Near Calgary
https://globalnews.ca/news/4333227/pilo ... lgary/amp/
Says an ultralight helicopter in the article. I didn't know there was a category for that? Do they mean a homebuilt helicopter or perhaps a gyro?
Anyone hear more?

Re: Learning to fly in the golden years
My dad's nearing 70 and thinking to get his license and fly for fun. He might buy a plane, but I'm suggesting medical first, then PPL then plane. I read some stats in Plane and Pilot recently... - Oldest person to get a pilot's license: Lt. Col. (ret.) James Collins Warren. 87 Years old. He was a f...

Re: Thinking about plane purchase
I have considered this route and have spent a lot of time researching kit built planes but at this point I would rather get something that I can fly right off the bat rather than spending a year or 2 building. OM planes are something I would consider and am fairly mechanically and would likely look...

Re: Thinking about plane purchase
I am hoping that over the next 2-3 weeks I will be completing my RPP on floats. I passed my preflight and written last summer but ran out of time to complete my flight test (was a little disappointing but gave me a reason to force me to do some flying this year). I am hoping that a week or so of fl...

Re: Westjet mainline commuting
Hi all, with the new ad for FOs, I was wondering what the current westjet mainline commuting policy is, and if it is doable for a junior FO out of CYWG? How many days could you realistically expect to be home? What is the mainline FO pay like? Most information I find is either about Encore or reall...
