There you go, if you get canned sue your employer!Heliian wrote: If you get fired for trying to be safe and fly within the limitations of your aircraft and the regulations then you need to take civil action and show these 2 bit hack aviation "companies" that their b.s. will not be tolerated.

Re: Safety and newbies
Company pressure exists on all levels. Wether it be a 250 hr pilot flying their 206 with a 80 lb box thats "60 lbs" on paper, a 703 chief pilot signing the PPC of a pilot they don't really feel comfortable with flying on-line, or a AC Embraer pilot being drafted for a flight block against their wish...

Re: There's a TON of captain postings right now
Jazz / Encore and the regionals always suck up light turbo-prop captains this time of year.
Its a great time to be a 703/704 captain, let the good times roll!!

Re: Logging # IFR APP
IFR time in your log book is what you say it is. If you fly a King Air in VMC under a IFR clearance, you are on the guages the whole time anyway, log it as IFR if you like. That IFR column is for time you are flying under an IFR clearance. FYI; Transport doesn't give a rats a** about little details ...

Re: Low time pilot.
Step; 1 - Research all the places who start 200 hr pilots (www.pilotcareercentre.com is a good resource) 2 - Spam the industry with your resume and cover letter (everything from 704 operations to fishing lodges) 3 - Go on a road trip to the places you applied to, and be ready to start work immediate...

Re: Dock vs. Ramp First Job
50 hr float ratings are cash grabs. Even if you have a float rating, your first job will still have to spend +5 hours in your initial training, and can sign off your float rating that way. Save your money! You have cash burning a hole in your pocket? How much did you put into your RRSP this year, TS...

Re: Dock vs. Ramp First Job
The whole point of a ramp/dock gig is that you'll eventually be flying for the company you ramp for. So what do you want to fly? Floats or multi IFR turbines?

Re: Summit Air Buffalo - Red Cross?
Personally, I love aviation museums. Looking at the neat old designs of aircraft from yester-year. But business is business. At some point operating these old birds stops becoming feasible. If transporting big generators is a problem, communities need to consider selling older larger generators and ...

Re: Perimiter Ramp Wait Time
PR, I think the correct answer is, we're both wrong. Crumy flight instructors, overworked ramp guys and people willing to fly an over loaded clapped out 206 into nowhere Ontario arnt bringing down the industry. That IS the industry. That's your options for breaking into flying in Canada in the 21st ...

Re: Perimiter Ramp Wait Time
I asked a question, I did not paint all instructors with the same brush. I won't paint all instructors with the same brush, but I will say to the 200 hr instructors that are only doing it for experience to move on, "YOU'RE BRINGING DOWN THE INDUSTRY". You're willing to work long hours for low wages...

Re: Perimiter Ramp Wait Time
I don't know why so many people are OK with working on the ramp. I had a conversation with a Jazz pilot friend the other day and he also agreed. It brings the whole industry down. I am also a newly licensed pilot with only a bit above the minimum CPL hours, but I will not take a ramp job. This is m...

Re: How we scored our first job
All really good stories folks! What i'm hearing are fairly unique stories and individual "one off" ways of breaking into the industry. Canada will need how many thousands of pilots in the next decade? two decades? We can't all have unique "one off" ways of breaking into flying. I am the product of a...

I'm sure if you're willing to be a rampie (nothing like aiming high!) there should be lots. I'm sure Wasaya can "use" you. It's what that do.....just to name one. Illya what does this even mean? s. Re: Perimiter Ramp Wait Time
Things could be worse, you could be an unemployed 250 hour pilot? Ah, but you ARE an unemployed 250 hour PILOT! You are unemployed AS a pilot. Same way you'd be unemployed as a pilot, if you were flipping burgers. Only a pilot could justify the waste of two years on a ramp, and call it "employment"...
