Re: RCMP crash

The aircraft is destroyed, ended up on its back with the wings and tail torn off. Holy crap. I'm glad she's okay. What could cause that? Clipping a wing tip on the ground and cartwheeling? I recall running out of aileron authority occasionally in severe crosswind landings on the PC-12. Not a good f...

Re: Encountered Severe Weather Enroute Thread

I liked this board better when each thread was about an individual accident that was interesting to Canadian pilots.

Re: Porter vs Transat

I'd go Porter as they are expanding. Get in on the ground floor. Transat is on its last legs.

Re: Missing Caravan

There is a report from someone in Webequie that they saw a light that looked like a flare. If you are flying in that area today please be on the lookout.

I don't think they'd be inside ADS-B coverage. If they had GPS tracking I don't think they would still be searching.

Congratulations to Porter for increasing hourly wages! Does years of service carry over from FO to CA?

Re: New pay scales

Is Westjet buying Sunwing still or whatever happened with that? I remember Transat pilots getting a big raise when they thought there was going to be a pilot merger with Air Canada.

I think most people would balk at $1000 on lemons. But she's probably just used to the prices at the Northern store in Kangiqsualujjuaq.

Re: Petition

You guys are right. I think I'm just anxious about how they are going to try to weasel out of putting the ALPA merger to a vote. I'll relax, for now.

Re: Petition

"The goal of the ALPA Education and Membership Petition is:
To petition the MEC to conduct a vote of the national membership on the following
question: Do you support prompt education about ALPA membership and a merger
agreement negotiation, followed by a vote on a merger with ALPA?"

Re: Petition

There's a new email now saying "ACPA received a petition, which was validated by the VCC, where 30% of our membership requested to have more education on what ALPA membership would look like." That's not what the petition said was it? I signed it with the intent to direct the MEC to hold a membershi...

Re: Flair off runway excursion YKF

There are thousands of jobs that practically require longer shifts. No doubt you could suggest "Fatigue" as a factor for every airplane crash. But airline flying, really?? Sit back in a lazy-boy seat (sheepskin covers, mmmm) all day, hand fly a couple minutes every few hours, maybe a sore pinky fro...

They just started recruiting in Africa for permanent immigrant workers because they can't find enough qualified pilots in Canada that will work for them at the current wages.

Re: Why does AC not have a base in YYC?

It's an international airline and Calgary isn't really a major international hub. No offence WJ widebody ops. If your next question is why does Air Canada have a Winnipeg base then, I don't know.

Re: When ALPA says 'Where should we set our bar?'

It's the crabs in the bucket mentality. We need to get rid of that as a national group. Gains for AC pilots are good for all pilots in Canada.

Just to play devil's advocate, what kind bs do you think ACPA can pull in order to not put this issue to a membership vote? We need to be prepared for that.
