Re: Tool of the Day!
Nope, Idon't know either of them. I just overheard the exchange on the radio and was disgusted by the pilots idiocy. I have his registration, but I don't know if I'm allowed to post detailed info like that on Avcanada?...doesn't really matter anyway (except to those who might investigate the inciden...

Re: Fun and exciting airports in Ontario?
Tottenham/Volk...Doglegging, downsloping runway with 50 foot trees right at the runway edge...lots of ultralight pilots who have ended up in those trees can attest to the challenge of this airport. On second thought...maybe not suitable for a newly minted pilot...maybe convince your fearless instruc...

Tool of the Day!
The "Tool of the Day" award goes to the moron flying through CYOW terminal into Carp around 1300 today. After contacting Ottawa and obtaining clearance to transit their Class D terminal, the terminal controller instructed him to fly heading 280 to avoid departing IFR traffic. The pilot refused to fo...

Beef Island in the British Virgin Islands. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/2/8/9/1322982.jpg +1 :D Awesome scenery and fun islands...full moon parties anyone?!? St. Barth's is probably my favorite airport. Cool approach and a topless beach directly off the end of the runway. Mmm...

Re: Saying No
hmm... Been there done that. If you do walk expect to have your name trashed .. ROYALLY. The aviation rumor mill will twist the story around 180 degrees... and you will come out looking like the bad apple. Expect ZERO backing from your peers, other CP's etc. The first question when you phone up a n...

Re: Mandatory Retirement to be Eliminated in Parliament
For the rest of your now shorter life.... Great! Where to sign up  You can retire early if you like. Don't worry, we won't think you're lazy because of it. I've always found it somewhat amusing that even though we obviously love flying and pursued this career with singleminded determin...

Re: "VFR" above the clouds.
_dwj_ that is great advice. Just great. I am glad I know that now. Now all my decision making just got simple. `if the weather is so bad you can't do it legally then you shouldn't be flying (or perhaps consider using a dogsled!)` It sure is nice to be living in such a black and white world where al...

Re: "VFR" above the clouds.
Ok...side track on this thread... Granny Gas...It is NEVER ok to operate over the gross weight of your aircraft and justify it because you are carrying granny gas. If you as PIC determine that due to the conditions you need more gas, then great! But if this extra gas puts you overweight then you mus...

Re: "VFR" above the clouds.
God...I am so glad I never had to "put in my dues" up north. I had one friend who died exactly because of this kind of stupid s#it. He used to be so proud of how his company had worked out all these "ingenious" procedures to make the northern flying more efficient. When he was upgraded quicker than ...

Re: Type IV fluid and Air Canada
If I was forced to guess, I'd say that it's an SOP thing where taking Type IV is a move on the side of caution. Not an Air Canada SOP...nor a CYOW SOP since I've been through there with only a "type one, wings and tail". As a previous poster mentioned, it could very well have been that the pilots t...

Re: Nut-free zone ordered on Air Canada
Perhaps ACA should consider bringing back proper (and of course nut free) full mean service. That way non-allergic passengers won't be tempted to bring their own food onboard which is likely 'tainted' with peanut allergens as an alternative to the overpriced garbage served on the flights now. Uh hu...

Re: Food for Thought
Also, what kind of twin-otter cruises at 150 knots??? especially with floats attached! Maybe it takes a super-duper-hero-of-the-north to coax out that kind of cruise speed.

TCA: Giving you the benefit of the doubt...I assume you are talking about vertical acceleration (ie. increase or decrease in flight path angle) and not steady climbs or descents. If this is not the case then I would suggest you revisit Newton's Second Law of motion.

Re: ALPA, ACPA and everybody else who's involved in reciprocal..
So basically when the sunwing/skyservice/canjet/transat pilots go over seas in the summer on contract they should be treated like a bag of shit because they are there STEALING jobs as you put it. Get over it, sounds like you lost out on your chance to pay canjet 24K to fly a 37-800 for the next 2 y...

Re: Buffalo Joe doesn't like TC's version of SMS?
Lets see, letting pilots annonomously address saftey concerns in an open forum where transport can see their concerns without the fear of punishment. HMMMM. If Joe doesn't like it that is enough reason for me to seal the deal and say sms is a good thing. Lets see, letting pilots annonomously addres...

Re: Foreign Nationals flying for Canjet?
No matter how you sugar coat it, it is still wrong.
Canjet has lead the race to the bottom in the past and is leading the way again now.
