Re: Cannabis for COVID-19

No need to let them fly after Cannabis ingestion/injection/...
You don't inject cannabis

Regardless of its intake form I'd have no problem with my pilot having a toke a night or two before.

WestJet has blocked the middle seat on the 737s and 787s and every other seat on the Q400.

Re: Layoff Numbers

Regarding the governments 100% refund for employer EI and CPP contributions, that is only in effect for employees who are deemed surplus.

Re: Layoff Numbers

And just so everybody understands, an employer cannot claim nor can employee receive the CEWS subsidy via company payroll unless they have been identified as surplus and would otherwise be subject to layoff. That's incorrect. All employees are eligible for the CEWS, not just those identified as sur...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Companies do not have to contribute.

Every pilot that makes more than 58k would get $847/week paid by the government. Beats EI.

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

That's incorrect. There is no provision to not layoff after June 6, once the subsidy is finished. The program is not 'signed off' yet. Had the last bill gone thru parliament without opposition parties making changes, current government could do this program without consulting the house, but they ca...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

I think why all the airline who are in 100% grounded mode didn't answer about the 75% yet is very simple I am sure they are provision to not layoff for the next year or something like this I believe At will restart slow and adjust to the demand they are looking at it now . ps: FL280 have to be a Ja...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

I'm convinced you must have found a Transat pilot in bed with your girlfriend. Why your constant negativity and schadenfreude? We sure don't wish harm on any other pilots. No not at all, i wish them the best of luck at AT. They wont because of the pay structure, the subsidy is only up to 58,700$ wh...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

You'd have to be pure evil to keep your employees laid off when the government is offering free money to pay their wages. Not really, it's basic arithmetic. The subsidy has a cap at 8 hundred and change a week. If you bring back a union person that has a wage double or triple that amount, you have ...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Most Air Transat pilots are probably waiting to go back to work at Air Transat. I was afraid of that. Time for some soul searching and asking yourself if any Canadians are really going to be taking a vacation in the next year, and if those few that can still afford vacations are looking for an all ...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

I'm curious if most laid of Air Transat are actively trying to pursue new jobs or are waiting for this buyout to happen? It's fun to speculate on what might happen but if it stops someone from advancing their career in the meantime it be harmful to them. If the dream of being merged into the ACPA s...

Another vote for Stratford. Andy runs a good school and I had a great experience there, years ago. Nice setting and atmosphere, practice area is close by and you’ll enjoy flying outside of the GTA.
