Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway

I will agree with you there. All I can think of is ice crystals blocking fuel screens. Although fuel/oil heat exchangers would warm the fuel, a couple hours at -50c (or colder) could cause any water in the fuel to freeze. Isn't there usually one per engine though? Seems extremely unlikely both woul...

Re: 1200TT pilot with jet time advice

Thanks for the tip @MD11, I will probably look into corporate flying before turboprops. The idea of a bond is not something that I can bear honestly, unless the gig is really good. Jazz is a great option but only if I get the jet time. Heard that you can’t really bid or pick your base/fleet so gett...

Ok. I still doubt the loss of oil pressure was the cause of the engine failure in this case though, as it happened on both sides simultaneously. Seems much more likely it was a symptom of the dual engine failure.

It's almost impossible to have an engine failure *without* an oil pressure warning.
Not so
Okay. Could you give some examples how that could happen?

Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway

The NTSB preliminary report shows there were oil pressure warnings on both engines prior to the pilot's call to ATC about a dual power loss. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/351596 Isn't that just the equivalent to having an engine failure? Engine fails - oil pressure goes down - warning gets t...

Re: Any plans for Socialized bidding?

Ya sorry thats going to be a hard no from most of us here (except maybe the one FOAG guy that keeps talking about it). We didnt sit around for a year and a half during Covid - thinking we’d be getting our jobs back “in a few more weeks” - to start spreading love (socialized bidding) with people tha...

Re: 1200TT pilot with jet time advice

Thanks a lot for the tips. I was told that Encore and Jazz will gladly take me. I am honestly not chasing a seniority number so I am kind of thinking about maybe applying to both operators, don’t know if it’s the right choice though. Medevac sounds good but I suppose it will mean being on call and ...

Appreciate your advice, especially the last part. Never knew that I was entitled just because I got jet time, or because I genuinely asked for help from respectable, reliable and professional gentlemen. Unfortunately it's an indication of the kind of attitude you'll encounter in your job sea...

You guys might want to checkout one of my passion projects: notam.ca and wxbrief.ca Both sites are using the CFPS data but try to present them in a much more user friendly way (including making them accessible on mobile devices). Some of in my opinion coolest features: Fully mobile friendly GFAs ha...

It's a bit weird at first glance but I suppose it does make some sort of sense. There are some airlines partnering with high speed rail connections in Europe as well. If done well it could improve the travel experience.

Re: AvCanada finally restored and functional once again

Back up and running. Appologzie for the delay had two flights today. Thank you for the hundreds of emails letting me know the table crashed again. Again it did not repair via the normal method and took a lot longer to fix. Something might still be afoot. Making a post is significantly slower than n...

I figured I'd post an update for other interested parties since I did get a few PMs as well. I contacted directapproach.ca and another provider somebody sent to me via PM. Directapproach gave me a lot of very valuable information regarding the process. Turns out an approach can be developed signific...

Re: B747 Rating ?

The issue is you’re looking to get it stamped in your blue booklet. The 747 has no value in Canada. That's a question, would Transport even issue the rating given the foreign training, and the fact the type is not operated here ? Looks like Bob Briggs beat me to it anyway, that will be tough to bea...

Re: B747 Rating ?

Why? Retired now but during my career flew the B727, B737, B757, B767, B787, just need the B747 and B777 on my licence to complete the set .... and get the free sub. Figure I could renew my instrument rating while I'm at it. How much is dual on a light twin these days ? I'm guessing not much less ?...

Re: Ferry piston aircrafts across Canada

The owner wanted me to snag everything I saw. Almost all of the snags were not flight critical like wet carpet in the nose baggage bay, a rip in the cabin carpet, leaking vent window etc etc. However there were major snags that required two shop visits on route. However after at that time 25 years ...
