Re: Cover Letter on Resumes
Cover letters: As someone who has been a CP at a 703,704,705 and POC now 604 operation in Canada. If you are not responding to a posting for a specific position a cover letter is just more paper for the CP or whomever reads the mail to read and then trash. A 250 hour pilot doesn't have a great deal ...

Localizer: I may not have the right to have a licence. Where do you get that, I have passed all the required tests; written and practical. I have more than the required education and have continued to pass the required tests written and practical for 30 years. My question is who gives some group the...

Re: Georgian RJ's
The one thing that concerns me about the college is their desire to be involved in licensing. I have 2 objections, one; who or what gives the group the right to decide who gets a licence. The entry standards we have now seem adequate and the product in most cases is of a reasonable standard. The sec...

Re: Won't be long till it's fully entrenched here.
Jetsgo Big difference, your money was repaid with interest ,as much as you could charge. If you were there for 2 years all was repaid. first 6 months interest then 18 equal payments plus interest until complete. Secondly Jetsgo paid a starting wage that was liveable. These programs such as the Lion ...

Re: Won't be long till it's fully entrenched here.
I think the idea that it can't or won't happen here is wishful thinking. I would suggest there are any number of parents with that amount of cash and if you look at the cost to put a child through 4 -6 years of University in a major centre, while not quite as much it will knock the wind out of a $10...

Re: Employability outside of flying...
25 years ago I almost did what your suggesting. I have a degree in Agriculture so other than sales there wasn't much to do if you couldn't afford to fly you couldn't afford a farm. I stuck it out when many left, a number of the group who started with me did as well. Right now one is a B777 Captain a...

LionAir Indonesia does this program as well. You pay Approximately $50,000 for a B737NG type rating and then another $50,000 for 500 hours line training. Following this a permanent job is offered as a B737NG FO. There are plenty of Europeans doing this as well as Indians. I have talked to several an...

Krimson: Thank you, I read somewhere that Michael O'Leary remarked that a certain european group will crawl backwards through broken glass for cheap fares. Without singling out anyone I think there are a lot of folks in Canada who will do the same. In asia people are flying ,who never flew before on...

Krimson, Please do not twist my words. I am flying home from Asia on KLM this week Business and I have flown on all first level European carriers. I "asked " if anyone on here talking had ever worked at Ryan Air . I have flown Easyjet and it is a low cost no service carrier. people today will fly on...

Spirit Airlines in the USA is a ULCC by some peoples model . Pilots line up to work there because they have fun, make money and fly a decent airplane. They sell every bit of space on the airplane you pay for exactly what you get a seat, if you want to check bags drink coffee you pay extra just like ...

Re: The CTAs' Decision ref Sunwing's wet-lease application
Gilles Keep up the good fight. I am one of those Canadians who would really rather be home flying than away 3 or more months at a time to make a decent living. I well remember finding out that the FO's from TUI and Air Berlin were making more than the Captains at the charter carrier I was employed b...

EA757 Not wishing to get in a flaming contest but you made a real jump from they don't allow marriage to the company treats workers so poorly. That is fairly standard in Asia, as are restrictions on height, weight and education including being able to speak at least several languages including Engli...

Re: Meet the airline with veto power over employee marriages
The South Asian carrier where I am on contract has the following rule for new hire Flight Attendants. It is applied to both female and male personnel. They must be single on beginning the initial 2 year contract and agree to stay that way. If a female FA wishes to get married during the first 2 year...

Good to see expansion at Air Transat and that Canadian crews will fly the aircraft. Good luck to all involved.

Re: Georgian buys Regional one?
Given that Regional 1 is part of Avmax while possible very unlikely. The aircraft move from lease to AOC to other AOC. Carving one off wouldn't really make sense unless Georgian really wanted into 705 Operations in a hurry.

Re: Pilots should take the initiative in achieving their car
My daughter just graduated with two degrees and I made sure she is debt free to start the rest of her life. I was brought up to believe if you have children you should prepare them for life after they leave the family home. She chose a career that has nothing to do with aviation;smart girl. If she h...
