wouldn't that be provided by the company? I'm curious to know what legitimate reason someone would need to have one and not have one already.

Re: Layman starts an airline. The big project
You can't apply numbers from the American market in Canada. They are completely different markets.
Also not sure what you're trying to do here? Start an airline or is this a school project?

Re: Am I employable under 1000 hours?
Depends, are those 1000h instructing? While a few companies might hire low time guys in the south you'd do well to go up a bit further for a while. Upgrades to the left seat tend to be really slow in the main cities. Go for a few years and you'll be way ahead of someone who didn't with tons of exper...

Re: Student line of credit
Quick answer: no you don't need a ppl for college programs. Now, with that said, those programs aren't cheap either. I'm really not sure what your plan is. Do you even know? If you started your ppl more than 20 years ago I'm assuming you're in your maybe late 40s? So basically your best case scenari...

Just do the aerocourse.
A bit of money but totally worth it. Did it over a weekend, and wrote both the next day. With scores in the 90s without prior study.

What will having a ppl do to make your finances easier? Like others said, if you're not borrowing to finish all your training what's the point?

Re: screwed, again
I agree with AOW, no amount of regulation is going to matter unless they enforce it. Redneck, Labor cost increase of 30% isn't a bad thing, you can keep your bottom line if you increase the bill to your clients, which if they have to fly, will continue to do so. Again, the rules will change for ever...

Re: screwed, again
Redneck pilot, In your example there is at least 10h of idle time in a crew house between flights. So long you don't even need to split the duty you can reset the duty period! Also for those saying it would degrade salaries and conditions, it wouldn't. If all companies have the same limitations, the...
