I have no idea what the average is. I got 87%, which is probably a typical mark. The pass is 60%.

I second JC's recommendation to "get friendly" with your AIP. Overall, I found this exam more difficult than the PPAER (obviously). I got the exact same mark that I got on the PPAER, with double the amount of studying. The Air Law section was very easy, as was the Met. I found the Gen Knowledge sect...

Pipeline/Patrol/Survey Flying

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone here has done any pipeline/patrol/survey flying in their career. Are these jobs typical for a new entrant, or do these companies generally seek related experience or an ATPL? If anyone has any info on this type of flying I would be very appreciative. I tried to do ...

PPCs vs Type Ratings

Hey guys, Once again, the CARs are giving me a headache. :) I don't quite see the difference between a getting a type rating done and a PPC. (i.e. priveledges of each, when you need a PPC vs. a type...) I know you need to have a valid PPC to do a type rating, but that's about it. Does it have more t...

Recency Requirements?

Hey guys, I am hoping some of you can help resolve my confusion in regards to TC's recency requirements. It has always been my understanding that there are 3 subsections: 1) 5 year requirement: if you have not used the priveledges of your license within 5 years, you must redo the written tests for y...

permateacher, Congrats on your job! I'm sure you will really enjoy the metro and your new career. 180, I don't think you are being fair on instructors. 1000 hours is not 10 hours 100 times over, and instructing hours are not useless. You obviously have no clue and I don't think it is fair to general...

Thanks for all the responses. As far as my motives are concerned, I realize that this type of work is NOT for time builders. Although I am a lowtime pilot (230tt, working on my instructor rating now), this is something that I am interested in doing. I understand that I would not likely get paid for ...

Missionary Flying

Hey guys, Does anyone have any info in regards to obtaining work as a missionary pilot? Specifically, what kind of qualifications are normally required? How can I go about finding a list of companies that hire missionary pilots? Location is not important either. I am assuming most of these jobs will...

Windsor Flying Club is looking for an instructor, try them. I found this posting in the job forum. There were a couple there for instructors.

Good luck!

I am very interested in Quebec Air Express, and I would like to send them a copy of my resume and cover letter. I realize that the preferred way to do this is via th...

Vx and Vy

Hey guys, Can someone provide a logical explanation as to why Vx increases with altitude, while Vy decreases? It seems to me that both should decrease, but I am obviously wrong. I understand the physics behind each (excess thrust vs. excess power), but do not see the logic behind it. Thanks in advan...

Hey YWG Pilot,

I sent you a PM from the old forum (username= uwochris). I don't know if you ever got it or not as I sent it just before the forum changed (your username was YWG Student). If not, please let me know by PM.

Thanks,

Chris.
