Re: A few statistics on foreign pilots from CIC
Its interesting to read all the bashing against foreign pilots flying in Canada. Just a couple of thoughts. Imagine you´re the CEO of a charter airline. You´re facing large differences in demand for your services over the course of a year. So what would you do? You hire sufficient numbers of crew p...

Re: A few statistics on foreign pilots from CIC
As a Canadian working in Asia/Middle East I second the motion DGuy. Aviation is a worldwide industry, right now I have 3 licences and 3 validations in my flight bag. It makes life interesting and quite profitable. I am happy to say I have been welcomed with open arms and treated well in all the are...

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
Can anyone with a pprune account please post a link about this survey on the Canada section here ?
http://www.pprune.org/canada-42/
I created a pprune account to do it, but it seems that the moderators there don't let any pprune newbie post any such thing with an external link.
Thanks,
Gilles

Re: A survey of the employment condition of Canadian pilots
The survey is losing steam people. We're down to four respondents per hour with under 900 total. At this rate it will take years to reach 5000. My intention was to reach 5000 inside of one month. I do not intend to spend one year at this. Spread the word please and cross post if you have intranet at...

Re: More foreign pilots on work permits elsewhere
I received emails indicating that Bombardier's corporate aviation department and Cargojet both employ foreigners as pilots. Were these pilots hired through a company sponsored LMO, by claiming these pilots had some skill that no Canadians had ? Does Bombardier have a reciprocity agreement where US p...

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
I asked someone at Air Canada to post the information about this survey on an Air Canada Forum. Can others do the same at other companies please. We need to spread the word, Air Georgian, Air Inuit, Air Labrador, Air North, Calm Air, Canadian Helicopters, Canadian North, Canjet, Cargojet, Central Mo...

Re: Sunwing to hire foreigners using the LMO method
I would love to hear this story on the Lang and O'Leary Exchange only because I want to hear Kevin say the magic phrase: Unions are a cancer. BTW, don't get my wrong, I look upon this College of Professional Pilots as akin to the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Law Society of Upper Canada, ...

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
Hi Gilles, I filled out your survey, and two constructive critiques for you to ponder: > The first question does not reflect those with multiple licenses and/or careers (fixed-wing/rotary wing)- as an example, I have ATPL-A (Canada/US) and CPL-H (Canada, soon to be ATPL-H and eventually US). > It w...

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
What end is this survey a means to? I think the Canadian aviation industry being the way it is has some benefits, personally. It's tough and there's some hardships in this country, for some people anyway, true. You have to impress people to succeed. But isn't that why Canadian pilots are so highly ...

Re: More foreign pilots on work permits elsewhere
A reasonable compromise is what is desired. If you stick hard to 1 Can=1 Foreigner when plenty of Canadians don't want to go to Europe for six months then it may be you who is not being helpful either. If they are given the choice of Europe in the summer or layoff, then great. Then what has been cr...

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
The survey is for all Canadian commercial and airline rated pilots, the hopeful, the happy and the unhappy. Thanks for responding and spread the word please. We're already at 373 in a little over 12 hours.

Re: A survey of all pilots in Canada
196 replies so far. It's not yet reflective of reality because a lot of my AT colleagues filled it out early on (to test it). But this is the kind of data we will have. Because the survey is automatically entered into a spreadsheet, we will be able to extract all sorts of data from these results Wha...

Re: More foreign pilots on work permits elsewhere
I think some pilots are quite happy with seasonal work and don't want to go to Europe for 6 months straight. Which is fine also if the airlines can find enough guys like you and that you are able to convince them that you will come back the following year in order for them to get a good return in t...

Thorn ? I hope I am a thorn to them or else I have been wasting my time haven't I ?. Here is some more thorns for them, in the form of the application form used to request an LMO from HRSDC: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eforms/forms/hrsdc-emp5517(2011-09-003)e.pdf Question 65 states : 65. A survey of all pilots in Canada
It seems that HRSDC has very little data at its disposal to evaluate the employment situation of Canadian pilots. Just looking at un-employed pilots collecting EI does not provide them with a clear picture of the situation, for many of us are stuck in a certain job while our experience and backgroun...
