Re: Negotiations

The only problem with just covering 100% of the benefit premiums is that is does not help recruitment much because people don’t really appreciate how much we lose in deductions until they are already hired. It’s attracting them in the first place that is the problem, and they need to be able to adve...

Re: Negotiations

Jazz management is claiming the raises we are asking for would make the margins from the CPA evaporate. So to afford the raises, AC would need to be willing to renegotiate the CPA with larger margins. So yes AC needs to sign off on it.

Re: Negotiations

The reason we are able to negotiate inside a 17 year contract( now 12 years left) is the company cannot recruit/retain at the current pay rates. So Jazz management came to the union to negotiate. Why don't we have a new agreement yet? For the same reason Westjet doesn't have an agreement yet. Manage...

Any news on how WJ management’s attempt to have WJ declared essential before the CIRB went today?

Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

Transat can and probably will remain independent for years to come. They have a very loyal customer following, will be forever propped up by the Quebec government and I think being bought out by ONEX would actually hurt their brand.

Re: Flair Pilots

In the US new hires are skipping pay steps and getting higher starting salaries/higher signing bonuses/direct entry Captain based on previous experience. Of course they still go to the bottom of the list so while they might get DEC their schedule is crap for quite some time as internal FOs get upgra...

Until the gov invokes the notwithstanding clause like the Ontario PCs did against the teachers aides a couple of months ago. Look, I hope you are right and I hope the Westjet pilots achieve the gains they deserve but go into this with eyes wide open

Re: Latest MEC Bulletin

On the contrary, they have achieved extraordinary gains, at both the CPA and majors ...

Re: Smaller Westjet vs Pay Pilots

IF there is a strike, please open a GoFundMe and I will donate to help the striking pilot costs. Would the union pay the pilots some kind of wage during the strike? If so, how much? Section 65 - Strike Policy of the Alpa Administrative Manual. $1,400 per month prorated if strike ends earlier. edite...
