Re: Private American A/C Down in CYRT.
YRT is one of the busiest northern airports out there. AvGas isn't often used up there and for years it has been brought in by drums. I just taxi'd by the wreck a couple hours ago (They almost made it) and the plane is in decent shape. Happy to see everyone made it out alive.

Re: It's like a drug, no?
What got me into flying? It was a spur of the moment idea I had, never had an interested in aviation before but I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.
Why am I staying in aviation? Because it's the only thing I know how to do.

Re: Private Airplane Owners - Victoria/Lower Mainland
Thanks for the post. I didn't think of that. I didn't mean a 6 pack, I meant 6 cases of beer. But a belly wash sounds like a great idea too! I also had another brilliant idea that I can do, but I will have to wait until days get shorter. PIC under Supervision. It just means I have to wait a few more...

Private Airplane Owners - Victoria/Lower Mainland
Hello neighbors, I am finally adding up my logbook to apply for my ATPL and I was basically smacked right across the face when I added up the PIC night X-Country column. Before quitting my last job, I added everything up and made sure I had all the minimum requirements for the AA's. I am 3.6 hours s...

Re: INFO, PLEASE: FLYING TO RIVERS INLET, BC IN JULY
When I just completed flight school I headed out on a Goose to go work at one of the many fishing resorts(dock guy, clean boats, retackle etc). What an experience. Since I have had experience in smaller aircraft I had an absolute blast on the way there. The actual work wasn't all that much fun, but ...

Re: Canadian North and Air Canada co-ordinate Arctic schedules
Cancelation of the Yellowknife route is true. It never was busy. But they are also starting a new route to Coral Harbour, Chesterfield Inlet, Rankin Inlet and Baker lake with the ATR-42. Repulse and I believe Arviat with Borek's 99's.

First Air's '67, and both Herc's went down to Haiti. I beleive the 67 only did one run, but the Herc's were there for a while, one of them may still be?

I still doubt they plan on throwing a 500hr wonder in a jet, but who knows. From what I see in the ad, they will be looking for someone with 1500-3000 hours that will be upgradeable in the future. That is what i've seen from similar companies in the past. but who knows.

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I got a good chuckle over comments made towards Gords upgrade. I can't remember the exact qoute but when they said "he had to reach the magical 2700 hours to make the upgrade to Captain". My mind was doing the quick math for the 1/2 time that F/O flight time can be credited to towards the ATPL. Wha...

show me a jet pilot flying medevac that is really happy, and i'll show you a liar. who wants to fly a jet being on call 24/7.....there's a reason they're looking for a low-timer. It's true, no one wants to do medevacs for their entire life, but it's a chance to break into the jet world. I see nothi...

Rowdy, I'm not expert but the shot of the street looks a tad too saturated. Not sure if you did any processing or not. But it looks a little odd from my view. Or maybe it's just the sunset haha.

I agree, all those tips sound great. I had a blast last summer, but maybe i'll go a little easier on the redbull this time around. But how can you go wrong when red vodka, or jager bombs are the $2 drink special EVERYWHERE.. My heart was going for 3 days.

Re: 50 Best Employers in Canada 2009
I spent 3 years of my life at McD's before my aviation career started. I am not surprised at all to see it on the list. Great Schedule, Benefits, positive moral in the workplace, room to move up in the company, and very very well managed. Haven't seen all that at the same level in an aviation compan...
