It's hard to remember a year when it wasn't bad for Beavers.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

So the Jazz deal is to hire a certain percentage of Jazz pilots relative to OTS hires, right? So if they merge 600 Transat pilots they don't have to hire any Jazz pilots at all I imagine.

Funny to hear city folk assume these types nowadays instead of the Beav.

Re: Pearson Drug bust, 2 Sunwing employees arrested.

Maybe if they stay quiet and refuse to name their benefactors they’ll be rewarded with a full pardon and employment at Transat like Capt Crossfeed Hahaha. I was waiting for this comment. Quebec’s hero, Canada’s fool. Too bad he just retired. It would have made a good talking point during the senior...

Re: The Ol' PFO

The parties shall meet and discuss unforeseen issues that could impact operations. Sounds like the CARS duty regs. There's always a loophole to get out of them. Or, you know... the grounding of the 737 Max and by association the delay of GGN pilots flowing to Jazz. Nothing is ever as black and whit...

I don't see how you could think this is a viable solution.

Re: Are Amber Alerts affecting your flight safety?

If it was my kid I would realize the following:
-If people are asleep they are not going to wake up and go look for my kid
-If people are awake a notification in the form of a text message without a loud sound would accomplish the same thing

Are Amber Alerts affecting your flight safety?

I lost a good chunk of sleep last night after multiple Amber Alerts in the Toronto area at 3 AM (once again). I didn't call in fatigued because I felt I was still safe to operate but of course I was not as fit as I could have been. Where do you draw the line on this?

Imagine being Transat after this deal gets voted down. Though if they've already bribed the execs I'm sure they could get to the large shareholders too.

Re: DOH merge.

Or maybe AC won't touch anything and let Air Transat like it is and reduce Rouge fleet and give the flight to AT. When people are getting retired from AT they won't replace them and increase Rouge fleet. If there is too much pilots in AT they will ask for volunteer to flow to AC So everyone would b...

I'm glad they went to investigate but the company has had 3 weeks to do whatever they want to the aircraft. Due to any possible insurance claims they might have a vested interest in influencing the investigation.

Re: Congrats

There's no grand political conspiracy behind it, no one is orchestrating a plot to keep your tax money here. It's simple supply-and-demand, and you coming home dilutes the supply of pilots without any corresponding increase in demand. Air Canada pilots tried to strike for a better contract and were...

I'm surprised there hasn't been more attacks on major European airlines flying into Africa in modern times. The security is essentially zero and the place is crawling with muslim extremists. Air France, BA, Turkish, etc all fly into places way worse than Nairobi too.

Re: 703 to AC?

I’ll pipe in. I came from 703 flying MEDEVAC to AC. I have an aviation diploma. Flew bush 705 for about 1000hrs. Interviewed Oct. and hired in March. I knew my chances we low but I was happy with where I was and in no particular rush. I feel I have been a bit of an anomaly. Knew friends in the insi...

There's no way 1 in 20 OTS new hires are from 703.
