Re: FIRST EMERGENCY?

Obviously, with a gear problem you're going to reject the approach. Sounds like they did the correct thing by "buying" time. A "gear occurrence" SHOULD result in "ZERO fatalities".....don't you think? Nothing really special there. Securing the wrong engine is nothing new. Transport Canada killed the...

or 3. The aircraft didn't in fact turn, but rather flew a straight line from take-off to crash location. Except that, if you draw a line from takeoff to site of crash, the point at which the ELT wen off, is nowhere near that line . Another question....if it were a simple suicide, there's Lake Super...

FIRST EMERGENCY?

With the redundancies and reliability built into modern aircraft, I was wondering how many "first" emergencies have ended in tragedy? Training the other day just made me think of SOPs, and how following them to the letter sometimes (don't start on me, I said sometimes) require the attention of both ...

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013

Were they on one engine? Did they have a fire? This would have been a recorded transmission on 122.3 or centre? Why is this relevant? Engine failure, I'd have headed to YWG, fuel permitting. Fire? Land right where you are. I know you read this Peter. Speak up. I don't know about you, but I always o...

Always wondered why it takes the time it does. Never been involved in an investigation, but the Americans feed information as it comes to pass. Politics. Plain and simple.

Re: YAM 208

You, as the claimant, bear the burden of proof to demonstrate that he did, in fact, jump out of the airplane. I don't know you or your source, and I have no way of knowing whether you're pulling this out of your ass. It would never hold up in court, so why should I believe it? "Your Honour, I know ...

Re: Best Bear gun?

Got off my wallet and bought a RUGER SR1911, in .45ACP. While it kicks out pretty well at the range, I suspect it might be a bit light for an angry bear. This, and it's a range only gun...oh well, our country is so politically terrified of hand guns. Oh Canada! Great gun though. I looked at a Kimber...

Re: Bearskin Metro 3 CYRL accident - Speculation thread

Only thing I have to add is Bearskin doesn't have working autopilot in most of there fleet. When a situation arises it may have been possible that both guys had there head down looking at a checklist or one guy doing a checklist and the pilot flying reading the plates. When situational awareness ju...

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013

Perhaps, after a few days we can open a "Speculation" thread? Until then, this could have been any of you. I happen to have respect for the way the BEAR operates, and I'd like to see some semblance of respect shown. These small operations are "families", so unless you actually "know" something, let'...

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013

It's news evidence (verified) that they were descending on a beeline course to the Airport, while still on the exact same course as en-route and not even attempting any other approach procedure yet not quite reaching it on that 'shortest trajectory possible'. According to additional information rel...

Didnt ride the Bonner as much as I had hoped this year.. Only about 5k. Season on the wet coast is quickly coming to an end for me. All the better, as I have many mods planned and bits on their way to me. I'll post a before and after shot when I'm through with it! How was everyone elses season? How...

Re: Accident in YRL Nov 10, 2013

From Toronto Star: "The pilots of a plane that crashed Sunday on approach to an airport in northern Ontario had made an emergency call about 10 minutes before the impact killed five people." "“It was proceeding almost normally, then declared some degree of an emergency,” said Peter Hildebrand, regi...

Well, I knew at lest one of the pax. Haven't got the names of the other two yet, but I think there's better than even money I know at least one of the other two. I know this is an aviation sight and all, but these people had no say in the way their lives were ended. At least as much consideration ne...

Bring back the 152. Still one of the finest aircraft ever built, if used for it's designed purpose.

Re: Unsterile cockpit

Not much of a distraction there??? Missing the point of your post entirely. Try taking a couple of 5 year old humans for a 172 ride! That cat was a model passenger. I watched the whole video expecting to see the cat go berserk. Never happened. GOOD CAT! BTW, the cockpit WAS sterile. Nobody said a wo...
