Re: Class 1 medical

I am in a similar situation as Mike, I did my cat 1 back in the spring before i started getting serious about my build up hours to make sure I am qualified to fly commercially. So now I have my ppl and intend on getting my cpl by next spring or early summer, aproximately 1 year after I got my cat 1....

Re: ATPL

jpar84 Wow barely a year in and you allready sound like a bitter fucked over veteran just let go off after his 5th employer in a row went tits up. :P I do??? Well I can see how this thread would lead you to believe that. Truth is I am cautiously optimistic about things as a whole, I just thin...

Re: MIFR COST

how can you possibly say that you are not being judgemental when you draw such strong conclusions about my character Never said that, in fact I said just the opposite: I most certainly AM judging you based on what you wrote TWICE about using your position as an instructor to advance yourself. I can...

Re: ATPL

If you think along that line, then you probably should not count time you are crusing along on autopilot, talking about beach balls or whatever. If you are in an aircraft with an instructor, and they are chit chatting about something that is not about the flight/aircraft, then yuo might consider a ...

Re: ATPL

what frustrates me about the .5 co-pilot thing is that it could impede my future progress ummmm, ok. How many hours do you have right now, again? Anyways, it doesn't matter what you, or I, or anyone else here thinks, that's the way it is. Get used to it. It's called life, and despite what you may h...

Re: MIFR COST

Ok this is in response to both hedley and airtids previous posts. Airtids first let me say that I in no way mean any disrespect, I am sure Hedley is correect in his assessment that you are a knowlegeable and well respected aviator with good intentions towards instilling that knowlege on others. With...

Re: ATPL

JC thanks for the detailed perspective. I'm definitely on board with the PIC concept and i agree that PIC hours should be highly valued hence the mimimum PIC requirement. I guess what frustrates me about the .5 co-pilot thing is that it could impede my future progress. I think the co-pilot hours of ...

Re: ATPL

JC, you are saying that F/O time only counts as 50% to the total 1500 hour requirement. I don't think this is the case. From the CARs: (4) Experience An applicant shall have met the training requirements for the issue of a Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane that is not restricted to daylight flyi...

Re: ATPL

 The big killer is the co-pilot 50% crediting. You need 1500 hours. OK. but co-pilot counts 50%. . Ok so i'll go out on a limb and assume that the ATPL was designed for those who wish to become airline pilots (at least for the most part). This being the case, the above has to be the mos...

Re: MIFR COST

What Doc said. Get all the sim time you need and hop in a single engine til everything is solid (a 172rg is good). Then a few flights in the twin and you're good to go. It should also save a flight or two if it's the same type of twin from when you did your ME rating. Hey guys this is a question fo...

Re: Starlink looking for pilots

As for pay? No they do not pay $100K per year because they are happy you applied. The pay is in line with industry pay. I think in the $50k per year plus benefits with sched time. No need to bitch on this forum....it is what it is!! And yes there is a bond!! And like I said....not an entry level jo...

Re: Flight sim as training tool??

Thanks AOW, in fact thats exactly what my instructor reccomended, let the autopilot do the grunt work while I focus on the ifr procedures. With that in mind, once in a while I might want to take a break from the gruelling ndb and vor approaches and have a little fun, maybe fooling around with some b...

Re: CYUL/CYMX

I appreciate the suggestions guys. 8) EDIT: Any suggested FBO's at St. Hubert to check out? Cheers. You can try Cargair/max aviation, everyone is pretty cool there, I do my training with them but out of Mascouche. I'm not sure what the scoop is for ramp fees but I'm sure if you purchase fuel it wil...
