I took a look at your web site and might have missed the section on crew bases.
Do you offer home basing?
What are your bases?

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
You might want to contact the union and ask them or call ALPA in Canada since I did hear of some Canadian pilots living in Florida and commuting to work. I also heard of some living in Europe and commuting to Canada. It can be done. As for bases look to see where the most flights go out of Ottawa to...

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
This is great info, thanks. Health insurance is one of the big questions I have right now. So from the looks of things, the family and I will be eligible for BC MSP health care after three months. What I'm not sure about is if my company health care requires me to be a resident of the US. If I'm no...

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
Ah to be a dual citizen. Hawker Driver, you must live near my stomping grounds of Windsor. I'd love to figure this one out, now how to convince the wife to let me marry a yank.......(Maybe the deep south, isn't that allowed there or does it have to by my cousin?) Not too far from you just 20 minute...

Contact the Regional Airline Association (RAA) they are the lobby group representing the Regional airlines in the US to the government and members of congress.

Re: Anybody commuting to a US carrier?
I have been doing it for over 10 years now. Living in Canada and working in the US. I am a dual citizen. I pay all my US taxes first then get a foreign tax credit on my Canadian taxes so after putting some money into a Canadian RRSP it is not much of a tax hit. I just drive across the boarder to wor...

Re: European Coastal Airlines
It looks like they are done. Just had their AOC pulled after a news story was published with photos of poor maintenance and corroded control cables plus homemade parts. Google Translate gives you an idea. http://www.index.hr/vijesti/clanak/foto-index-otkriva-opasne-propuste-zaustavite-hidroavione-pr...

Re: What would you do with 10 HondaJets ???
I would operate them fractional under FAA part 91. Far more sane compared to Canada. All the fracs operate and train under part 135 ( charter rules). The vast majority of the flying done is from card owners ( part 135 ) and not the "share" owners who fly part 91k. A lot more people out there who ha...

Re: The Russians!?!
I had a few rides in an An26 a few years ago was surprised by the 5 man cockpit crew. Captain, Co pilot, Navigator, Flight engineer and Radio operator. The navigator had a huge panel infront of him and all these slide rulers and maps. Tucked in the corner was a GPS unit. The company I used to work f...

Re: Sunwing and CYVO ARCAL
Jax center was really pissed at Sunwing yesterday afternoon just south of Hevvn intersection. He told them twice to climb to 340 since there was an aircraft restricted at 350. The Sunwing pilots blew through 340 and stopped at 345 when their TCAS went off. Ours showed them 500 feet below. Both pilot...

Re: Pilot Shortage and Statistics
It won't be long before the US regionals start looking up north for pilots.
A friend of mine told me that in their last hiring class in January of the 25 pilots hired only 3 showed up on the first day.
There is already an agreement between TC and the FAA for easier license conversion.

Delta's new inflight video
I was on a Delta flight yesterday and they just showed their new 1980's version safety video. If you don't get the jokes ask an older pilot. PS. The last sceen in the cockpit got the most laughs. http://youtu.be/eduNjwNvcH4 Here are some more funny ones from around the world http://metro.co.uk/2013/...

Re: Deadly plane crash at Aspen airport
I fly into Aspen about 10 to 12 times per years and over the last 15 years I have on many occasions had to divert to Rifle. 50 percent of the time it was clouds/vis the other was winds. We also have higher company impossed minimums. Our company does special APG Sim training for Aspen which includes ...

Re: Deadly plane crash at Aspen airport
I am willing to bet that the pilots of those 5 aircraft that landed just before the accident will be getting calls from the the FAA to explain why they landed with 16 kt tailwinds.
