Well that's your clear winner! YYJ - YVR in a 1900 is short enough!

Re: Pilot's Eye for the General Aviation Guy.

The first thing you should do is throw away the Timex and go buy the biggest, most complicated, most expensive aviator's watch you can find. Don't worry if you have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it—you can hardly call yourself a true pilot without one. Real pilots only wear watches that ...

Re: Man charged after laser pointed at Edmonton police chopper

Just last night on the climb out of CYVR, center advised us that a Jazz Dash 8 ahead of us en-route to Kamloops reported a laser flash 15nm north of our flight path. I think it may have come from one of the mountains, probably the viewing aread up in Cypress. I think. Didn't see it either way but go...

95% of the time I go at 17,000 or higher, depending on the ceiling and winds. Lowest I've ever done on that route was 13,000. I guess everyone's got their own reasons for the alts they fly *shrugs*

I've been trying but I think having the flying job on the resume dampens my chances as they figure if any scheduling conflict ever arise, my loyalty will be to my flying job. Hmm

Re: Things they put in Manuals

So I was perusing the weather radar manual for the Honeywell radar in our aircraft. After reading about the GCR button, which I found to be used to reduce ground clutter displayed on the screen came this very humorous warning. ****Warning*** It must be remembered that, although the display of groun...

Re: Sorry, just have to rant!

Why on earth would you give TAS?!?!? ATC cares about indicated. Really? I'll have to file IAS on my flight plan next time. Can I refer them to you when they call me up to ask WTF I think I'm doing? :D :D Filing is one thing, when asked what your indicated is, they probably want to know what your in...

What a freakin joke! It takes you 7 yrs as captain before you earn 60g's??? How many years into your career are you by this point? How many lives are in your hands, what kinds of weather and terrain are you flying through 24/7, how much is the machine worth that you are operating? Absolutely redicu...

fellas, AC pilots, WJ pilots, CMA pilots, Westwind pilots, Sunwest pilots, Cathay pilots etc...have all taxii'd their jets, turboprops, pistons etc faster than normal before.. Relax, there's so much animosity between certain companies it amazes me. I'd kill to fly for either one of them right now bu...

Re: Braking vs. Reverse Thrust

Depends on the runway length too. Coming into a 10,000 foot runway for example, in a Beech 1900 I'll only ever throw it in ground fine to slow down, below 60kts I'm at idle and the plane does a good enough job slowing down on its own with minimal to no braking needed as I turn off onto the taxiway. ...

Thanks CLguy I agree generally with what you are saying, however I am involved in a project to put Fire Bosses in critical areas in Europe to protect high value properties. The Idea being the higher number of airplanes would cover a bigger area and as long as they got started hitting the fires as s...
