No more GS. Porter is hiring tho ...
Is this confirmed? When is the last GS scheduled for?
Classes have been and are continuing to run every 3 weeks. Last class was on July 17, so calculate from there (Aug 7, Aug 28, and so on...)

Re: Negotiations

On a side note. The golden age of being a pilot has long since past. Regardless of the path taken to the top of ones flying career the net outcome all things considered puts a Canadian pilot (and most others in the world) no further ahead than a truck driver, bus driver, train driver, ferry driver ...

Re: Negotiations

The Colgan crew actually had some experience: Colgan’s flight records indicated that the captain had accumulated 3,379 hours of total flying time, including 3,051 hours in turbine airplanes, 1,030 hours as a pilot-in-command (PIC), and 111 hours on the Q400. Colgan’s flight records indicated that t...

ironically, i was adding a layer of sarcasm.. which you did not get ... I picked up on your sarcasm. But no one was suggesting DOH was a real possibility. I used it as an exaggerated example to mock the idea another Transat offer was going to happen. If I've learned one thing during my tenure as a ...

Re: AC Hiring

5 years this year, applied to AC last month but wasn’t sure how long it’ll take before they call. If I’m looking at a 6 month wait I’d definitely consider going elsewhere. Thanks everyone for the responses! :) Can I ask how long it took you to finish flight school, get hired by jazz and then by Air...

Re: Warning before coming!

Lol man you guys are so negative. Jazz was some of the best flying I've ever done and was treated better than I am now. AC is not a guarantee. It never was. For me, or for anyone else. Does the pay suck? Yes. The rest of the contract however is one of if not the best in the country. When/if you eve...

Re: Our turn to strike ?

Consensus I’ve gathered from the line suggests the grievance will be dropped and the flow rate will be modified to a lower percentage to support wage increases. The survey showed a majority favouring this approach and it’s just a matter of how much the company is willing to pay, currently not enoug...

If you have been here for 5 years or less, you really should be looking elsewhere.

Re: New hire bids

They are actually reducing the YVR base. So don't need many pilots. You can see last to GS there were no YVR SPOTS. Also whatever hiring they needed for this year all invites have already gone out. They can't handle more trainees. Will hire again next year. Again, you were PFO'd; how on earth would...

Re: Has AC stopped hiring jazz until the fall?

Alot of new hires at AC have been from Jazz for the last number of classes. It makes sence to stop during the summer. The 60% is an annual requirement, so maybe they will make it up in the fall. Not sure where you get a-lot of new hires coming from jazz, when numbers have been around 5 in classes o...

My fear is that the pilot group is so riled up these days, that it wouldn't matter what the offer is, it wouldn't be good enough.

A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

Re: New hire bids

Just got the news last GS scheduled for July. Done for this year they said. Didn’t you get PFO’ed by Jazz? Where are you getting those info? You said there were 2 YVR Q spots and no ATPL in the last ground school which was incorrect. Old tactic of throwing s*** at the wall and see what sticks. 58

... path to AC for those who have that as their ultimate goal. This circles back to my other point. The problem is that if AC is your ultimate goal, the system is such that you need to get there ASA freaking P in order to secure that seniority spot. It means that young pilots, not knowing any bette...

Re: AC Hiring

I’m in the minority, but I’ve always thought pre-reserved seniority places on the AC list is an elegant solution. Used in the past by both AC/Jazz and Canadian Airlines/CRA, it solved the “urgency” some felt. But … as I said, knowing that this method has caused huge issues, I well understand why I’...

Re: AC Hiring

Jazz pilots worked for those seniority numbers and deserve them. You have a seniority number, at your current company called JAZZ. Any pilot accepting a job at one company, expecting a # at another is delusional. Just as when ACPA turned down the MOA. I heard more complaining by Jazz pilots than th...

Re: Is Jazz the right choice

I feel like a broken record so I’ll explain again online. Jazz is not the place to be! Old Jazz pilots are upset Air Georgian and Sky Regional were created and will make it known to you if you come from that operation from the past. They forget to realize they are former Air BC, Air Ontario Etc…the...

Re: PFOed 😑

Sorry to hear that. It must be especially tough to have it happen to you when everyone else around is screaming "We need pilots". The notion that you can get a job if you have "a license and a pulse" is clearly not true. I'll tell you this, I've been at Jazz for a number of years now and they don't...
