Re: Snowbird replacement aircraft
Well let's just hope someone like Deifenbaker isn't running the country when the time comes to make a decision. A fleet of 150 Aerobats might look good in the Snowbird paint scheme though.

Re: How damage history affects the price?
Since the majority of the small planes out there were built in the '60s , '70s and into the 80s a bit it's pretty hard to find a plane with no damage history,

Re: Building and selling of kit aircraft
" may or may not be built by an amateur" is what they really should be called then. No wonder the big 3 from the '60s and '70s don't make much in the way of small planes anymore, why would they try and compete with people like this Loophole Larry guy who started this thread?

Goodluck on finding one to rent if you go that route, they are usually occupied with boats, cars, RVs, woodwork shops, hot rod shops or anything else that doesn't resemble or have anything to do with an aircraft.

Re: Community/Residential Air Parks
I think Mable lake in the B.C. interior is live at airpark or a fly in resort anyway. The nice thing about a live in airpark is all your neighbors enjoy airplanes. I imagine if you bought a place on a Lake and parked a float plane there you'd have at least a few neighbors that would hate you, especi...

Re: Can we fly for fun during the Covid19
Besides, Continental and Lycoming strongly recommend their engines are brought up to operating temperature for 1 hour every week or so, so their is your reason to go flying.

Re: Can we fly for fun during the Covid19
But how do we define necessary travel? Everything is so vague right now it's ridiculous, some people go to the grocery store everyday and others go once a week, it's still essential. My Dad goes everyday, he doesn't meal plan, lives one day at a time, I think it's ridiculous and it's really unnecess...

Re: Can GA Aircraft Taxi under RVLOP?
How about taxiing for other than departure? Lets say we're taxiing across the field to the self serve fuel pump. Lets say its a VFR aircraft, getting ready to depart when the weather improves. I don't see why not, I was told I could taxi a plane across the airport once without a valid C of A, as lo...

Re: Can we fly for fun during the Covid19
This again? Why wouldn't you be able to? Everything has a risk, your kid could bust his leg on the trampoline, requiring emergency services. Was jumping on the trampoline necessary? No, but it's going to happen. Why is flying for fun any different?

Re: Can GA Aircraft Taxi under RVLOP?
So the lesson here is don't taxi with leaky brakes, flat tires or buckets of gravel dragging behind your plane whatever the visibility is. Seriously though GA is a pretty loose, broad, and vague term. Departing out of an airport in bad weather in a Cessna 140 is a bit different than in a P210 with f...

aircraft spruce 275 https://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/el/ledlighting_replacement/whelenparplus36.php, yes you can buy a lot of bulbs for that price, however paying 115/hr to put them in doesn't take long to pay it back Are there really aircraft owners out there that actually pay an AME to swap o...

Re: LED landing Light
Although they last longer those LED landing lights don't last forever like they claim, they either start to flicker or just quit working altogether. I've heard they also can cause noise issues with your radios. You can buy a lot of GE incandescent bulbs for $400.

Re: Owning and Operating a plane
One thing about owning vs renting is you have to fly lots to justify it. The more you fly your owned plane the cheaper per hour it becomes but it becomes more expensive per year because of the gas. The hour figure that is the tipping point will be different for every plane. I've owned a Cessna 210 f...

Re: Recreational Flying?
there are probably more hospital visits from idiots cutting off their fingers with skill saws and falling off ladders than small plane incidents. I think you're slightly math challenged on the number of folks engaged in light airplane flying vs working on their house in your analysis. Man this site...
