100%. I have conducted interviews and you can smell the bullshit the moment the walk in the room if they’ve been coached.

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
Bede is the WJ merger chair. He knows what he it talking about. Cjet As a Sunwing pilot I am very glad to hear that. Bede is often the mature voice of reason in threads full of childish rants. Im glad our guys won’t be sitting across the table from one of the “those assholes belong on the bottom of...

Re: Negotiations
It’s really sad what’s happening at Jazz. When I started flying (not all that long ago) if you got on at Jazz you had “made it”. I got a job offer there in 2015 and was ecstatic. 2 days later I got a job offer at SWG and took that instead. At the time many people thought I was crazy, that’s how much...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
Where did you get that captain seats are protected during a merger? How about bases too? Bede, seems to think that Sunwing Captains will be position and base protected. Not sure YQB, YUL bases are safe though. WS has not had much luck being accepted by Quebec'ers, so not sure how likely keeping tho...

Re: Is this a legitimate scenario?????
With the Westjet and Sunwing merger coming is it legitimate for people who want to work for WestJet go to Sunwing now? The Sunwing upgrade is basically as soon as you meet the min requirements while WestJet is still 10+ years. When the merger happens don’t Captains get protected? So basically In th...

Re: Why does anyone want to work at WestJet?
A lot of movement is still going to happen at WestJet in the next year or two as things sort themselves out. My prediction; most of the DECs at Swoop will leave rather than stay for a forced downgrade and loss of their base even though their pay would go up slightly if they stayed. Next, Sunwing Un...

Re: Want a dock the size of a warehouse? Call it…a new airport.
As someone who moved to Ontario and finds all of the rules and regulations insane, this made me chuckle. Good for him for finding a loop hole. You can’t fart in this province without getting a permit or paying a fee. I found that out when I bought my first house in a small town in Ontario and discov...

Re: Getting back into flying after a hiatus
I don’t have first hand experience but I have trained plenty of people getting back into aviation over the last year. Some guys who haven’t flown in 10+ years. Find out what you need to do to get current and fire out resumes. You’ll get offers.

I’m still really surprised that such a high percentage of westjet pilots wanted to keep socialized bidding.

Re: AIP is dogshit
This is why you should just pay more by the hour and be done with it. All you achieve with these formulas is make it more difficult to chose WestJet as a career path. Pull back on the stick the houses get smaller, push forward on the stick, they get bigger, thanks for the money, see you tomorrow. I...

Re: AIP is dogshit
I think you are misunderstanding the pay Previously $100/hr *120% WSP= $120/hr all in Under the TA $100/hr * 115.5% = 115.50 /hr 115.50 * 109.1% = 126.47/hr 126.47/hr * 110% WSP = $139.11/hr all in Also when I asked a friend of mine at WJ he said they still have a non registered option other than t...

Watch people really start to leave now. And they still have to staff these airplanes. Not sure why they would have an easier time of it than us. Can’t wait to read the statement from the JAZ MEC…… “All is good. Nothing to see here. We are in control”. Guess what? You are not in control. One only ha...

Re: Agreement in Principle reached
What does this entail? Are they saying a system wide rebid including “bump” and “flush”. Where someone currently holding 737 Captain at Swoop (for example) can be bumped by a senior pilot, but not currently holding that position? “No bump, no flush” is a common provision of any seniority integratio...

Re: Recent WestJet ALPA video for all pilots
Demonstrating yourself as "deserving" means shit. You could be the most productive pilot the ever was, have a superpower that cut fuel burns and boosted payload and these executives would just use you up. As had been stated, we are more productive than ever as group, computerized rostering, lighter...

Accountant seems to have a hard time understanding math. An extra $1 per ticket per hour would cover some pretty good gains. Nobody is going to care that their YVR-YYZ flight is $5 more.

Re: Wide body with no former jet-time
Flat pay isn’t a problem? Really? I would argue that flat pay in the narrow scope of the term is not much of a problem. Where I see the issue is what pay is being offered in the flat pay brackets. If flat pay was 75, 80, 85, and 90 in the first four years (respectively) it wouldn't be as much of sl...

Encore's operating, so the regional flying to smaller more remote cities can be done. Encore can be used on short distance mainline routes YYZ YUL, YYC YVR. Long distance flying YYZ YYC YVR can be rebooked on Air Canada, Jazz, Flair, Lynx, Porter or connecting through the US. 5 Canadian carriers ot...
