Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments

The entrance standards and program expectations are high and selection is competitive, with approximately 10 positions only available in the first year. Out of curiosity… how does one claim “highly competitive” when the organization has yet to run a class from end to end? One claims that because on...

Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments

There is some misinformation on this post. The Genesis Flair Cadet program isn't tied to any carrier. Students graduate with a full iATPL and integrated APS-MCC (Airline Pilot Standards Multi Crew Coordination ) with the MCC portion conducted using Flair's new B737 Fixed Training Device and our Stan...

We only have openings in YYZ and YKF at the moment. We open up base and position bids a few times per year for internal moves.

Re: Fall 2023 Hiring Update

-the reserve callout period is 1.5 hours This really needs to change given that you spend 1/3 of that callout time just walking from your car to the gate You may want to go see your CAME if it takes you that long. The walk is a well-planned part of a crew fitness and wellness program designed by HR...

You can, but we have a list of pilots on property that are waiting for YYC so it may be awhile.

Fall 2023 Hiring Update

Fall 2023 Hiring Update

We will be running a Nov 6th course of 12 pilots. 6 DEC's and 6 FO's all YYZ-based (potential for YKF if desired for FO's).

Our recruiting team will be reaching out to those who are in the pool and who have previously interviewed.

We anticipate more hiring in early 2024.

Re: No more water for pilots on the aircraft

I heard they wont provide water bottles to pilots now. Instead they want you to bring your own reusable water bottles and fill it up from the water dispenser on the secure side. Is this true? Shame Wow, must be slow on AvCanada these days. What the FA memo actually said was that we are cutting down...

Robots, obviously.
Simple, we hired for the spring aircraft and lost 4 that we didn't anticipate. So we were a bit overstaffed. We'll be running course this fall sometime.

Re: New Payscale?

... Starting with porter with year 1 Captain rates of 190$, that works out to 29% higher rates than ours. Year 12 Porter's rate is 18.5% better than ours. Now we must also keep in mind that porter essentially operates a big regional airline in the e2, or a small airliner with basically ~40% less ca...

Re: ALPA signing new agreements with training bonds

Of those that I know of that insist on training agreements the most onerous is that enforced by the CAF. Back in my day it was 5 years service after training completed, my understanding is it’s longer today. This isn’t the CAF. It’s ALPA, where pilots pay thousands each year in union dues to preven...

Commuting is doable? Is that a joke? ULCC is fly where you are based. You will be miserable commuting. If you get an offer it is what it is. Havingd a bad day Max8? I'm not sure how that would be considered funny? We have many piltos that successfully make commuting work. It's not as easy as an air...

Re: Flair pilot program

This is new to Canada in that it's a fully integrated cadet program, not a CPL licence from any school with a job at the end. The airline is involved from the very beginning. This isn't a new concept in Canada: https://www.cae.com/civil-aviation/become-a-pilot/our-pilot-training-programmes/jazz-app...

Re: Flair pilot program

I think the point being that these cadets would pay Flair and not the flight school directly. Said cadet pays flair 145k or however much under an installment plan and then the airline goes bankrupt and the student loses that money. Sure the training is still valid and they can certainly continue on...

Re: TUI style

You guys keep making my point for me! An airline can staff how ever it wants, most airlines will carry enough staff to cover the busy season, you know, make hay when the sun shines! They also won’t lay off pilots during slow times unless they are predicting the slow times to be extended into their ...

Re: Flair pilot program

What I don’t understand is this: why does this program cost $145k?!?! I could maybe understand if this cost included the 737 type rating, BUT IT DOESN’T!! The Genesis website specifically says that the 737 type rating is not included in this cost (because Flair pays for it once you become an employ...

It's risky because the company could go out of business before you receive your license. Why would an airline going out of business have any effect on your training or receiving your license? Re: New Payscale?

How long of a term is the new contract that was signed at Flair? I expect no pay increases will be coming until the end of that term. Flair pilots agreed to it and therefor seem to be stuck with it. It is very rare for companies just to throw more money out there. Porter is doing it because they kn...
