Light Corporate Aircraft Feasibility Study

#1 Post by Hayseed » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:00 pm

I am writing a light corporate aircraft feasibility study for my company. Staff in my company frequently fly 1 to 3 people within ~400 miles, so I am looking at 6-seat high-performance singles and light twins. As I am writing about the differentiating factors of aircraft choice that affect safety, reliability (mechanical + wx), cost, speed, and comfort and trying to explain it all to non-pilot types, I am thinking that somebody must have done this before. Does anybody have a similar feasibility study that they can share?

I sometimes do these types of studies for small businesses. The important thing is to get real numbers applicable to your situation backed up with operating costs from reputable companies like C&dD, not numbers someone has made up and put on glossy paper for you.

I highly recommend you pay for and get a professional cost analysis done. It's not that expensive. In my experience trying to find someone who will share information that doesn't apply to your business and then going from there leads to a long and expensive road peppered with "Damn, wish we had known about that!"

We set up a bunch of spreadsheets to do this kind of thing, if I can locate one on my old computer I will share it.

Thank you both.

Ahramin - of the similar studies you have done, roughly what fraction of the companies decided to proceed with obtaining an aircraft?

Not a significant sample size but about 25%.
