Knee problems and commercial flying

Post by goleafsgo »

So I broke the same knee twice, grade 5 and grade 9. I'm 21 now and occasionally get pain in it. The 2nd time i broke it the dr's said that as time goes on pain will develop in my knee, which could lead me to having a cane. My question is will this affect me becoming an airline pilot, either keeping a cat 1 medical or passing an airline medical? I had my last medical done a few days ago and I mentioned the knee issue to the dr but he didn't say anything about it. I've worked on the ramp at both YOW and YYZ and have never seen a pilot with a cane so I assume that would be a deal breaker for an airline.
