How long for paperwork - class 3 medical

Post by omgwereallgoingtodie »

Good morning
I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of how long it will take for my first class 3 medical paperwork to arrive in the mail
Are we talking weeks or months?
Am keen to get the last piece of paper in order to get my student permit!

Thanks in advance for any help

I think they will issue one based on the temporary from your Doctor. I've waited over a month for TC but not a lot over a month.

Should I have gotten something from the doctor?
He just said it'd come in the mail.
This is my first medical so I have no idea what's meant to happen!

My first one, the doc just said it would come in the mail and it showed up a few(3-4) weeks later. No problem.

Sorry, it's been a while since I did the first one. I must be wrong. I thought there was some sort of temp.

There could be a temp.beefitarian, but i dont recall getting one. Maybe as I had a heart condition I wasn't issued with a temp and had to wait for official notice from TC....whatever the case may be it wasn't a long wait.

I know how you feel. It's one of those times whenever every day feels extra long. After the first one you will get temporary stamps.

:)
My instructor is on vacation at the moment so I'm temporarily grounded and itching to fly!
I was hoping to have all my stuff done for the student permit for when they got back

Pstar is done, radio license arrived in the mail last week. Just waiting on the medical !

Sounds good. You should have booked a flight with another instructor. I may have to bring Trey to this thread. He likes it when people are excited about flying.

At the moment I only fly at the weekends and would have had to miss one due to work commitments anyways
It didn't seem worth building up a relationship with a new instructor for one lesson

I am very excited about flying!
Kind of a personal success story of over coming fear
Ive gone from literally not being able to get on a commercial flight to actually flying a plane
How cool is that ?!

One lesson stands are ok. You won't even risk a TTD since it takes many lessons to pick up most bad habits.

If your instructor is telling you not to fly with other instructors I would wonder why.

Nope he offered to hook me up with someone else
I declined

Maybe when I'm further on in my training and need to keep up the momentum
I will do what you suggest

I'm using the time to catch up on some of my reading in prep for written exam

Studying is a good plan too. I keep carrying my books around but not reading them enough. :(

No temps on initial medicals as TC has to review the file. Same goes for initials on upgrading the class, such as class 1. Temps on renewals however.

Studying is good, but try to take an hour to get out and fly, especially if your looking at a few weeks off.
Good luck!!

So it turns out my medical ended up back at transport Canada as somehow my apartment number got left off the address

I asked every so nicely if there was a chance I could get it quickly, they are reprinting it and mailing today

Still at least I know there's no problem with it
