Thinking of getting into the Market

Hello folks,

I'm thinking of buying my own plane some time in the near future so I've started looking into things but I figured I'd see if anyone here would have some good advice.

I'm just curious as to what I'll be getting into and what I would need to do that I probably haven't thought of yet. I'm looking at probably a light single like a 172 or something along those lines. I'd prefer it to be IFR certified but if that's going to increase the cost exponentially then I can do without it. I found a cost estimator at planequest.com. Is that pretty accurate? As far as overall price I'm hoping to find something in the $50k to $100k range.
